Everyday pockets

Abstract

The purpose of "Everyday Pockets" is to provide an accessory that serves the same purpose as a purse or clothing pockets, but provides more adequate accessibility, space, comfort, and convenience while maintaining an attractive appearance. This is achieved by constructing two pockets of appropriate size for storage of items normally carried in an average sized purse, connected by a strap that is draped around the wearer's neck so that the pockets are suspended at the length of average pants or jacket pockets. The pockets and strap could be made of any variety of available materials and might include fasteners and/or decoration.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0004] Historically, accessories used primarily by women to carry money, keys, make-up, and other paraphernalia have included:

[0005] Purse of various sizes with a short handle for carrying: only one hand is then available to use for other purposes.

[0006] Purse of various sizes with a shoulder strap: keeps slipping off the shoulder and weight causes physical discomfort.

[0007] "Fanny Pack": strapped around the waist: can be uncomfortable, hard to reach, unsightly under outer clothing.

[0008] Pockets: sewn into articles of clothing are frequently too small, too inaccessible, or nonexistent.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0009] The purpose of "Everyday Pockets" is to provide an accessory that serves the same purpose as a purse or clothing pockets, but provides more adequate accessibility, space, comfort, and convenience while maintaining an attractive appearance.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE SEVERAL VIEWS OF THE DRAWING

[0010] A single drawing depicts (A) a strap that goes around the wearer's neck, and (B) pockets that suspend from the strap to the level of pants or jacket pockets, and (C) some sort of fastener for the pockets.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0011] A strap (A) approximately 54 inches long shall be constructed of leather, fabric, plastic, or fabric cord. A pocket (B), made of leather, fabric, or plastic, from 5 to 8 inches wide, and 5 to 10 inches deep, is either attached to, or may be a continuation of each end of the strap. The pockets can be closed at the top using a zipper, Velcro, button, snap, or other appropriate fastener (C). "Everyday Pockets" are used by draping the strap around the wearer's neck so that objects placed in the pockets are easily accessible.
