Adjustable pot retainer
Abstract
A pot retainer has a retaining member, a first adjusting member,
and a second adjusting member extending into the second opening and
having a screw extending into the elongated hole to engage with a
face of the second adjusting member so as to secure the second
adjusting member to the first adjusting member. The engagement of
the first adjusting member by the at least one screw which extends
into the slit and the engagement of the second adjusting member by
the second screw which extends into the elongated hole allows the
relative position between the retaining member and the first
adjusting member and the first adjusting member and the second
adjusting member to change so that the pot retainer is adapted to
clamp a laterally extending elongated object.

Claims
What is claimed is:
1. An adjustable pot retainer comprising: a retaining member
composed of a first horizontal portion, a hollow second horizontal
portion and a linkage securely connecting the first and second
horizontal portions together, the hollow second horizontal portion
having a slit defined in a face of the second horizontal portion
and an opening in a distal end thereof; a first adjusting member
having at least one screw extending into the slit to engage with a
face of the first adjusting member so as to secure the first
adjusting member relative to the retaining member, an elongated
hole in a face of the first adjusting member to communicate with an
interior of the first adjusting member and a second opening defined
in a distal end of the first adjusting member; and a second
adjusting member extending into the second opening and having a
second screw extending into the elongated hole to engage with a
face of the second adjusting member so as to secure the second
adjusting member to the first adjusting member, whereby the
engagement of the first adjusting member by the at least one screw
which extends into the slit and the engagement of the second
adjusting member by the second screw which extends into the
elongated hole allow the relative position between the retaining
member and the first adjusting member and the first adjusting
member and the second adjusting member to change so as that the pot
retainer is adapted to clamp a laterally extending elongated
object.
2. The pot retainer as claimed in claim 1, wherein the first
adjusting member is L shaped.
3. The pot retainer as claimed in claim 2, wherein the second
adjusting member is L shaped.
Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0001] 1. Field of the Invention
[0002] The present invention relates to a pot retainer, and more
particularly to an adjustable pot retainer. The pot retainer has a
retaining member, a first adjusting member movable with respect to
the retaining member and a second adjusting member movable relative
to the first adjusting member so that the pot retainer is able to
adapt to an elongated lateral object so as to securely retain a pot
relative to the lateral object.
[0003] 2. Description of Related Art
[0004] Usually, a pot is placed on a surface or hung on a laterally
extending object so that people may have better angle to enjoy
flowers in the pot. However, placing the pot on the ground may
hinder the pathway of a room such that the pot may even be knocked
over. Therefore, most pots are hung on laterally extending objects,
such as a beam, so that not only the plant in the pot has a better
chance to receive sunlight, but the people have a better view of
the plant.
[0005] Placing the pot on the laterally extending object, the user
normally needs a nail securely embedded in the laterally extending
object so that the user is able to securely hang the pot. However,
pounding a nail on the laterally extending object may destroy the
overall appearance of the object. In order to avoid the
deterioration of the appearance, a hook which securely surrounds
the laterally extending object is invented. The hook does have the
function to securely support the pot. However, due to the dimension
of the hook being fixed, the user will need a new hook every time
the pot is moved to a new place, which is quite troublesome.
[0006] To overcome the shortcomings, the present invention tends to
provide an adjustable pot retainer to mitigate and obviate the
aforementioned problems.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0007] The primary objective of the present invention is to provide
an adjustable pot retainer having a retaining member and first and
second adjusting members. The first adjusting member is adjustable
relative to the retaining member and the second adjusting member is
adjustable with respect to the first adjusting member so that after
the pot is supported by the retaining member, the adjustability
between the first adjusting member and the retaining member and
between the first adjusting member and the second adjusting member
allows the user to adapt to laterally extending objects with
different dimensions.
[0008] Other objects, advantages and novel features of the
invention will become more apparent from the following detailed
description when taken in conjunction with the accompanying
drawings.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
[0009] FIG. 1 is a perspective view of the pot retainer of the
present invention;
[0010] FIG. 2 is an exploded perspective view of the pot retainer
in FIG. 1;
[0011] FIG. 3 is a schematic view showing that a pot is hung by the
retaining member of the pot retainer; and
[0012] FIG. 4 is a schematic view showing that the pot is supported
by two retaining members.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
[0013] With reference to FIGS. 1 and 2, the pot retainer
constructed in accordance with the present invention has a
retaining member (11), a first adjusting member (12) and a second
adjusting member (13).
[0014] The retaining member (11) is composed of a first horizontal
portion (111), a hollow second horizontal portion (112) and a
linkage (113) securely connecting the first and second horizontal
portions (111,112) together. The hollow second horizontal portion
(112) has a slit (1121) defined in a face of the second horizontal
portion (112) and an opening (1122) in a distal end thereof.
[0015] The first adjusting member (12) is L shaped and has at least
one screw (121) (only two are shown in this embodiment) extending
into the slit (1121) to engage with a face of the first adjusting
member (12), an elongated hole (122) in a face of the first
adjusting member (12) to communicate with an interior of the first
adjusting member (12), and a second opening (123).
[0016] The second adjusting member (13) is L shaped and has one
second screw (131) extending into the elongated hole (122) to
engage with a face of the second adjusting member (13).
[0017] When the pot retainer of the present invention is to be
assembled, a first distal end of the L shaped first adjusting
member (12) is inserted into the opening (1122) and the two screws
(121) are respectively extended into the slit (1121) from two
opposite distal ends of the slit (1121) to engage with the face of
the first adjusting member (12) so as to secure the first adjusting
member to the retaining member (11). Thereafter, the user inserts
the first distal end of the second adjusting member (13) into the
second opening (123) and uses the second screw (131) to extend into
the elongated hole (122) and engage with a face of the second
adjusting member (13).
[0018] When a pot hook (30) is to be hung on the first horizontal
portion (111) of the adjustable pot retainer of the present
invention, the user adjusts the relative position between the
second horizontal portion (112) and the first adjusting member (12)
and the relative position between the first adjusting member (12)
and the second adjusting member (13) so that the adjustable pot
retainer is able to adapted to securely clamp the laterally
extending object (20). Then the pot hook (30) is able to be
securely hung on the first horizontal portion (111), as shown in
FIG. 3.
[0019] With reference to FIG. 4, if the pot is to be supported by
the adjustable pot retainer of the present invention, the user may
use two retainers as a pair so that two first horizontal portions
(111) form a firm face for supporting the pot thereon.
[0020] It is to be understood, however, that even though numerous
characteristics and advantages of the present invention have been
set forth in the foregoing description, together with details of
the structure and function of the invention, the disclosure is
illustrative only, and changes may be made in detail, especially in
matters of shape, size, and arrangement of parts within the
principles of the invention to the full extent indicated by the
broad general meaning of the terms in which the appended claims are
expressed.
