Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0001] 1. Field of the Invention
[0002] The present invention relates to water pumps and, more
particularly, to a mini water pump, which is well sealed against
water leakage and, has means to protect the motor against
vibration.
[0003] 2. Description of the Related Art
[0004] Mini water pumps are commonly used in aquarium or the like
for pumping water through water filter means. However, due to small
size, conventional mini water pumps have low pumping power.
Furthermore, conventional mini water pumps leak quickly with use
because they use only one single gasket to seal the gap between the
output shaft of the motor and the shaft hole of the motor
housing.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0005] The present invention has been accomplished to provide a
mini water pump, which eliminates the aforesaid drawbacks. It is
one object of the present invention to provide a mini water pump,
which achieves high pumping work. It is another object of the
present invention to provide a mini water pump, which protects the
output shaft of the motor against vibration during rotation. It is
still another object of the present invention to provide a mini
water pump, which effectively prohibits water leakage. According to
one aspect of the present invention, the mini water pump is
comprised of a housing, a top cover, a bottom cover, a motor, a
bottom shell, and a wheel. The housing has a stub tube, which
supports the motor in position, and a conical flange, which
supports the output shaft of the motor against vibration and a
gasket ring on the output shaft. The bottom cover has an upright
stub tube stopped at the conical flange of the housing at the
bottom side for the passing of the output shaft of the motor, a
plurality of inside annular flanges disposed in the upright stub
tube at different elevations, and a plurality of gasket rings
respectively supported on the inside annular flanges and mounted on
the output shaft of the motor to seal the gap. According to another
aspect of the present invention, the bottom shell has a plurality
of water inlets in the bottom side, two water outlets in the
periphery at two sides, and two output pipes respectively extended
from the water outlets. The wheel has a plurality of blades
radially spirally integral with the bottom sidewall thereof for
driving water from the water inlets to the water outlets of the
bottom shell efficiently upon rotation motion of the output shaft
of the motor.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
[0006] FIG. 1 is an exploded view of a mini water pump according to
the present invention.
[0007] FIG. 2 is a sectional assembly view of the mini water pump
according to the present invention.
[0008] FIG. 3 is a bottom view of the mini water pump according to
the present invention.
[0009] FIG. 4 shows a main pipe connected to the output pipes of
the bottom shell through two connecting pipes and a Y-shaped water
pipe connector according to the present invention.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
[0010] Referring to FIGS. from 1 through 3, a mini water pump in
accordance with the present invention is shown comprising a motor M
having an output shaft 1, a housing 10 having a bottom mounting
base 101, a top cover 13 having a peripheral bottom mounting flange
14, a bottom cover 16 having a bottom mounting flange 160 and a top
coupling chamber 17, a wheel 20 having radially arranged bottom
spiral blades 21, and a bottom shell 30 having water inlets 32 and
water outlets 33 and output pipes 34 extended from the water
outlets 33. The motor M is mounted in the housing 10. The
peripheral bottom mounting flange 14 of the top cover 13 is
fastened to the top open side of the housing 10, and then sealed
with glue. The top cover 13 has a downwardly protruded part forced
into engagement with an upwardly protruded part of the motor M when
covered on the housing 10. Therefore, the top cover 13 holds the
motor M firmly in position inside the housing 10. The bottom cover
16 is covered on the bottom side of the housing 10 by forcing the
bottom mounting base 101 into engagement with the top coupling
chamber 17 and then sealing the connection area with glue. The
wheel 20 is coupled to the output shaft 1 of the motor M and
suspended below the bottom cover 16. The bottom shell 30 is coupled
to the bottom mounting flange 160 of the bottom cover 16 around the
wheel 20 and sealed with glue, defining a water accumulation
chamber.
[0011] Referring to FIGS. from 1 through 3 again, the housing 10
comprises a stub tube 11 upwardly protruded from the center of the
top of the bottom mounting base 11 for supporting the motor M in
position, a conical flange 120 downwardly suspended in the stub
tube 11, and a center through hole 12 through the center of the
conical flange 120 for the passing of the output shaft 1. The
bottom cover 16 further comprises an upright stub tube 18 disposed
at the center inside the top coupling chamber 17 for supporting the
conical flange 120 of the housing 10 and for the passing of the
output shaft 1 of the motor M, and a plurality of inside annular
flanges 19 disposed in the upright stub tube 18 at different
elevations. During assembly process, gasket rings 2 are
respectively mounted on the output shaft 1 and supported on the
conical flange 120 of the housing 10, the inside annular flanges 19
of the bottom cover 16 and the top sidewall of the wheel 20 to seal
the gap and to prohibit vibration of the output shaft 1 of the
motor M during running of the motor M. Further, the bottom blades
21 are formed integral with the bottom sidewall of the wheel 20 to
simplify the fabrication and to reduce the manufacturing cost.
[0012] Referring to FIG. 3 again, when the motor M started, the
bottom blades 21 are rotated with the wheel 20 inside the bottom
shell 30 to drive water from the water inlets 32 to the water
outlets 33 and the output pipes 34.
[0013] Referring to FIG. 4, the two output pipes 34 of the bottom
shell 30 are respectively connected to a main pipe 37 through two
connecting pipes 35 and a Y-shaped water pipe connector 36,
enabling output water to be delivered to the main pipe 37.
[0014] A prototype of mini water pump has been constructed with the
features of FIGS. 1.about.4. The mini water pump functions smoothly
to provide all of the features discussed earlier.
[0015] It is to be understood that the drawings are designed for
purposes of illustration only, and are not intended for use as a
definition of the limits and scope of the invention disclosed
