Slide hammer puller for car-body sheet metals of a vehicle
Abstract
A slide hammer puller for car-body sheet metals of a vehicle in
the invention has a driven rod, a slide hammer and at least one
pulling member. A shank body of the driven rod with a stop portion
disposed at a proper position of the shank body corresponding to a
hammer face of the slide hammer is extended through the slide
hammer and combined with the pulling member at one end of the shank
body. Place the pulling member on a dent of a car-body sheet metal
and fill hot-melt adhesives between the pulling member and the
dent. After the adhesives get dry, strike the slide hammer toward
the stop portion to make the driven rod have backward pulling
movements to force the pulling member to pull the dent outwardly to
its normal smooth position, thereby the dent can be repaired
without disassembling interior parts and accessories of a
vehicle.

Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0001] 1. Field of the Invention
[0002] This invention relates to a slide hammer puller for car-body
sheet metals of a vehicle, particularly to one consisting of a
driven rod, a slide hammer and at least one pulling member, wherein
a shank body of the driven rod extended through the slide hammer
has a stop portion disposed at a proper position of the shank body
for corresponding to a hammer face of one end of the slide hammer
and is combined with each of the pulling members at one end of the
shank body. When the pulling member is placed on a dent of a
car-body sheet metal, hot-melt adhesives are filled between the
pulling member and the dent of the car-body sheet metal. After the
hot-melt adhesives get dry, a user can strike the slide hammer
toward the stop portion of the driven rod and make the driven rod
have backward pulling movements to force the pulling member to pull
the dent of the car-body sheet metal outwardly to its normal smooth
position, by which the dent of the car-body sheet metal can be
repaired without need of disassembling interior parts and
accessories of a vehicle.
[0003] 2. Description of the Prior Art
[0004] Generally speaking, when a vehicle gets dents on the outer
surfaces of car-body sheet metals under exterior forces, a known
conventional way in repairing such dents is firstly to disassemble
the car-body sheet metals from the whole car-body construction, and
then to hammer the dents from the inner surfaces of the car-body
sheet metals outwardly to their normal smooth positions with a
hammer. However, it is a waste of time and labor to disassemble the
car-body sheet metals. Moreover, the car-body sheet metals having
ever been disassembled are liable to become loose, or even worse to
be taken off the whole car-body construction at an unexpected time
to cause dangerous accidents.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0005] The main purpose of the invention is to offer a slide hammer
puller for car-body sheet metals of a vehicle capable of repairing
dents of car-body sheet metals without need of disassembling
interior parts and accessories of a vehicle.
[0006] The main feature of the invention is to provide a slide
hammer puller for car-body sheet metals of a vehicle mainly
including a driven rod with a shank body in long-rod shape having a
stop portion disposed at a proper position of the shank body and a
combining end disposed at one end of the shank body; a slide hammer
capable of being extended through by the driven rod and having a
passage disposed through a center of the slide hammer as well as a
hammer face disposed at one end of the slide hammer and
corresponding to the stop portion of the driven rod; at least one
pulling member capable of being combined to one end of the driven
rod, each of the pulling members provided with a combined portion
for corresponding to the combining end of the driven rod.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
[0013] A preferred embodiment of a slide hammer puller for car-body
sheet metals of a vehicle in the present invention, as shown in
FIG. 1, mainly includes a driven rod 1, a slide hammer 2 and at
least one pulling member 3.
[0014] The driven rod 1 has a shank body 10 in long-rod shape. The
shank body 10 is provided with a handle 11 disposed at one end of
the shank body 10 and a combining end 13 in threaded-rod shape
disposed at the other end of the shank body 10. A stop portion 12
with a larger diameter is disposed at an end face of an inner side
of the handle 11.
[0015] The slide hammer 2 capable of being extended through by the
shank body 10 of the driven rod 1 has a passage 20 disposed through
a center of the slide hammer 2 and a hammer face 21 with a larger
diameter disposed at one end of the slide hammer 2 and
corresponding to the face of the stop portion 12 of the driven rod
1.
[0016] Each of the pulling members 3 capable of being combined to
one end of the driven rod 1 has a combined portion 30 with internal
threads disposed at one end surface of the pulling member 3 for
corresponding to the combining end 13 of the driven rod 1 and a
concave surface 31 inwardly formed at the other end surface of the
pulling member 3. The pulling members 3 are capable of being
provided with various sizes for the convenience of being fitted
with different areas of dents of car-body sheet metals 4 required
for pulling.
[0017] In assembling and using, referring to FIGS. 1 to 5, firstly
extend the driven rod 1 through the slide hammer 2 with the hammer
face 21 of the slide hammer 2 corresponding to the stop portion 12
of the driven rod 1. Secondly, choose one of the pulling members 3
with suitable size to be combined with the combining end 13 of the
driven rod 1, by which the slide hammer puller for car-body sheet
metals of a vehicle in the present invention is assembled. When a
dent of a car-body sheet metal 4 is to be pulled outward, place the
concave surface 31 of the pulling member 3 on the dent of the
car-body sheet metal 4, as shown in FIG. 2, and fill hot-melt
adhesives 5 into the gap formed between the circumference of the
concave surface 31 of the pulling member 3 and the dent of the
car-body sheet metal 4 until the hot-melt adhesives 5 are spread
with the whole gap and out of the circumference of the pulling
member 3, as shown in FIG. 3. After the hot-melt adhesives 5 get
dry, the pulling member 3 and the car-body sheet metal 4 are bonded
together. At the moment, a user can hold the driven rod 1 with one
hand and strike the slide hammer 2 toward the stop portion 12 of
the driven rod 1 with the other hand, by which the driven rod 1 can
have backward pulling movements under the striking forces of the
hammer face 21 of the slide hammer 2 to the stop portion 12 of the
driven rod 1 to make the pulling member 3 gradually pull the dent
of the car-body sheet metal 4 outwardly, as shown in FIG. 4. When
the dent of the car-body sheet metal 4 has been pulled outwardly to
its normal smooth position, the user can cut the hot-melt adhesives
5 to separate the car-body sheet metal 4 and the pulling member 3
with a cutting tool 6, as shown in FIG. 5. And then, the car-body
sheet metal 4 is capable of being handled with grinding, polishing
and painting works.
[0018] The invention has the following advantages and effects, as
can be understood from the aforesaid description.
[0019] 1. The slide hammer puller of the present invention is
capable of repairing dents of the car-body sheet metals without
need of disassembling interior parts and accessories of a vehicle,
which greatly saves time and labor in disassembling and assembling
car-body parts and accessories.
[0020] 2. The slide hammer puller of the present invention with
simple selective combination is capable of being quickly assembled
and easily handled to increase working efficiency.
[0021] 3. The pulling members of the slide hammer puller of the
present invention are provided with various sizes for being fitted
with different areas of dents of car-body sheet metals required for
pulling.
[0022] While the preferred embodiment of the invention has been
described above, it will be recognized and understood that various
modifications may be made therein and the appended claims are
intended to cover all such modifications that may fall within the
spirit and scope of the invention.
