buttons.
6. The system of claim 2, wherein said attachment means are
ribbons.
7. An artwork patch attachment system for pillows comprised of a
pillow having at least one side panel, and an artistic patch,
wherein said artistic patch has rectangular shape, and said side
panel has a plurality of attachment means affixed thereto in the
same rectangular shape. Further, said artistic patch has a
plurality of loops numbering the same as and adapted to accommodate
said attachment means, and wherein said artistic panel is removably
attached to said pillow by engaging said loops with said attachment
means.
8. The system of claim 7, wherein said attachment means are
ribbons.
9. An artwork patch attachment system for pillows comprised of a
pillow having at least one side panel, and an artistic patch,
wherein said artistic patch has a rectangular shape, and said side
panel has a plurality of buttons affixed thereto in the same
rectangular shape. Further, said artistic patch has a plurality of
loops numbering the same as and adapted to accommodate said
buttons, and wherein said artistic panel is removably attached to
said pillow by engaging said loops with said buttons.
Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0001] 1. Field of the Invention
[0002] The present invention relates to decorative attachments for
pillows, and, more particularly, to an artwork attachment system
for pillows which allows artistic patches to be easily changed.
[0003] 2. General Background
[0004] It is often desirable to decorate pillows with artwork or
other aesthetic panels. However, these panels are normally
permanently attached to the pillow, making it difficult to clean if
soiled, or change if a particular design is no longer wanted. It
would therefore be desirable to have a system for attaching
artistic panels to pillows that would allow for the easy removal
and attachment of said panels.
[0005] Several patents aimed at pillow attachments have been
issued:
[0006] U.S. Pat. No. 944,910, by Reilley, discloses a pillow cover
comprising an artistic panel that uses a combination of a cord and
channel for attachment;
[0007] U.S. Pat. No. 2,845,637, by Di Stefano, discloses a pillow
having a case attached by buttons;
[0008] U.S. Pat. No. 5,144,911, by Moore, et al., discloses a pet
bed system comprising a mattress pad, an inner liner, and a cover
secured by VELCRO strips or snaps; and,
[0009] U.S. Pat. Nos. 3,162,868, 5,898,962, and D-397,902 are
representative of the state of the art.
[0010] The above patents present in the art are directed to pillow
attachments, but none teach the system of the present
invention.
SUMMARY OF THE PRESENT INVENTION
[0011] The preferred embodiment of the present invention provides
an artwork patch attachment system for pillows that allows an
artistic patch to be easily removed and replaced. Broadly, the art
work patch attachment system includes a pillow with geometrically
arranged attachment means, and an artistic panel of similar
geometric shape, with attachment means adapted to engage with those
of the pillow.
[0012] In view of the above, it is an object of the present
invention to provide an artwork patch attachment system for pillows
wherein a geometrically shaped artistic patch may be easily
attached to a pillow having similarly arranged attachment means.
Thereby, when it is necessary for the patch to be changed, either
for cleaning or a change of taste, the patch can be easily removed
by undoing the attachments, removing and replacing the artistic
patch, and reattaching it.
[0013] The above object of the present invention will become
apparent from the drawing, the description given herein, and the
appended claims.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWING
[0014] For a further understanding of the nature and objects of the
present invention, reference should be had to the following
description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawing in
which like parts are given like reference numerals and,
wherein:
[0015] FIG. 1 is a perspective view of the artwork patch attachment
system showing the artistic patch, the pillow, and the attachment
means;
[0016] FIG. 2 is a perspective view showing the artistic patch
attached to the pillow;
[0017] FIG. 3 shows an alternate embodiment of the pillow, with the
attachment means;
[0018] FIG. 4 shows yet another alternate embodiment of the pillow
and patch;
[0019] FIG. 5 is a perspective view showing an alternate embodiment
of the attachment means; and,
[0020] FIG. 6 shows the artistic patch attached to the pillow with
the alternate attachment means.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
[0021] Referring now to the drawing, and in particular FIGS. 1 and
2, the artwork patch attachment system of the present invention is
designated primarily by the numeral 10. In the preferred
embodiment, artwork patch attachment system 10 is generally
comprised of rectangular pillow 20 having a side panel 22 with a
plurality of buttons 24 affixed in a rectangular pattern, and a
rectangular artistic patch 30, having a loop 32 at each of its
corners. Loops 32 are adapted to accommodate buttons 24, thereby
enabling artistic panel 30 to be removably attached to pillow 20,
allowing artistic panel 30 to be easily removed for cleaning or
replacement.
[0022] Referring now to FIGS. 3 and 5, pillow 20 and artistic patch
30 can be embodied by a pentagon or other geometric shape, provided
buttons 24 are arranged in the same geometric shape as artistic
patch 30.
[0023] Further, referring to FIGS. 5 and 6, buttons 24 may be
replaced by any suitable attachment means, such as ribbons 26 or
the like, which would facilitate the easy removal and replacement
of artistic patch 30. Because many varying and differing
embodiments may be made within the scope of the inventive concept
herein taught and because many modifications may be made in the
embodiment herein detailed in accordance with the descriptive
requirement of the law, it is to be understood that the details
herein are to be interpreted as illustrative and not in a limiting
sense.
