Press
Abstract
A press has a slide, a lower tool and an upper tool which are
provided for forming workpieces and each have a top tool and a
bottom tool respectively. The top tool of the upper tool and the
bottom tool of the lower tool are each fixedly connected with the
press stands. The bottom tool of the upper tool and the top tool of
the lower tool are each arranged on the slide. The slide can be
driven by a linear drive and carries out a lifting movement.

Claims
1. Press (1) having a slide (4) and having a lower tool (7) and an
upper tool (8) which are provided for forming workpieces (10) and
have one top tool (7a, 7b) and one bottom tool (8a, 8b)
respectively, the top tool (8a) of the upper tool (8) and the
bottom tool (7b) of the lower tool (7) each being fixedly connected
with the press stand (2), the bottom tool (8a) of the upper tool
(8) and the top tool (7b) of the lower tool (7) each being arranged
on the slide (4), and the slide (4) being drivable by a linear
drive (5) and carrying out a lifting movement.
2. Press according to claim 1, characterized in that the lifting
movement of the slide (4) is an up and down movement.
3. Press according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the slide
(4) is guided on at least two of its lateral surfaces in linear
guides (6).
4. Press according to claim 1, 2 or 3, characterized in that the
press stand (2) has an O-shape which is at least approximately
completely closed on its sides and is provided with a central
opening (3) for housing the slide (4).
5. Press according to one of claims 1 to 4, characterized in that,
for producing workpieces, the feeding of material (9a, 9b) takes
place through openings (11a, 11b) in the lateral surfaces of the
press stand (2).
6. Press according to claim 5, characterized in that a support at
least for the material (9b) supplied to the upper tool (8) exists
inside the press stand (2).
Description
[0001] The invention relates to a press having a slide.
[0002] From Japanese Patent Document JP 10202397, a press is known
in which the slide is moved by means of linear motors.
[0003] German Patent Document DE 196 11 612 A1 describes a press
system having several presses and/or machining stations arranged
behind one another. In this press system, an intermediate tool is
arranged between a top tool assigned to the press slide and a
bottom tool arranged on a bedplate. On its top side, the
intermediate tool is constructed as a bottom tool cooperating with
the top tool and, on its underside, the intermediate tool is
constructed as a top tool cooperating with the bottom tool.
[0004] It is an object of the present invention to provide a press
which, while its construction is as simple as possible, permits an
output which is as high as possible.
[0005] According to the invention, this object is achieved by means
of the characteristics indicated in claim 1.
[0006] As a result of the fact that the slide, because the two tool
halves are arranged on it, cooperates with the upper tool as well
as with the lower tool, a considerably increased output occurs in
comparison to known solutions, in an ideal case, even twice the
output. While the investment requirements are increased only
insignificantly, this permits the manufacturing of a far higher
number of workpieces. Particularly when the space available in a
tool hangar is limited, the advantage of the press according to the
invention, specifically the increased output while the space
requirements are the same, will have its full effect.
[0007] The linear drive used according to the invention for driving
the slide, in this context, results in the advantages of a reliably
operating driving possibility for the slide while the construction
is simple and the maintenance-friendliness is high.
[0008] Advantageous developments and further developments of the
invention are contained in the subclaims as well as in the
embodiment whose principle is illustrated in the drawing.
[0009] The single FIGURE shows a press according to the
invention.
[0010] A press 1 has a press stand 2 which has an essentially
O-shaped construction with a large central opening 3. In the
opening 3, a slide 4 is arranged which is driven by a linear drive
5 and thus can carry out a lifting movement. In the present case,
the lifting movement of the slide 4 is an up and down movement.
Naturally, a lateral movement of the slide 4 would also be
conceivable. On at least two of its lateral surfaces, the slide 4
is guided in linear guides 6 with respect to the press stand 2.
[0011] The press 1 has two tools, specifically a lower tool 7 and
an upper tool 8. The two tools 7 and 8 are each constructed in two
parts, the lower tool 7 having a bottom tool 7a and a top tool 7b.
In a similar manner, the upper tool 8 is constructed of a bottom
tool 8a and of a top tool 8b. The bottom tools 7a and 8a each
cooperate with pertaining top tools 7b and 8b for producing
workpieces 10a and 10b from fed material 9a and 9b.
[0012] In this case, the material 9a is fed to the lower tool 7 in
the form of a web through an opening 11a in the side of the press
stand 2. In a similar manner, the feeding of the material 9b takes
place through a lateral opening lib in the press stand 2 which is
situated above the opening 11a.
[0013] The top tool 7b of the lower tool 7 and the bottom tool 8a
of the upper tool 8 are each assigned to the slide 4. During each
downward movement, the top tool 7b therefore cooperates with the
bottom tool 8a and a workpiece 10a is produced in the lower tool 7.
During the subsequent upward movement of the slide 4, the bottom
tool 8a cooperates with the top tool 7b and a workpiece 10b is
produced in the upper tool 8.
[0014] In this case, the tools 7 and 8 can carry out punching as
well as forming operations on material webs 9a and 9b for producing
workpieces 10a and 10b. Naturally, different as well as identical
workpieces 10a and 10b can be produced in the tools 7 and 8.
[0015] In a manner which is not shown, a support for the material
9b supplied to the upper tool 8 may be mounted on the press stands
2 or on the upper tool 8.
[0016] Naturally, it is also possible to supply the material 9a and
9b to the press 1 not in the form of webs but to supply already
punched-out parts. The openings 11a and 11b in the press stands 2
would naturally have to be constructed correspondingly. In this
context, the press 1 could also be used in a press working line or
a transfer system which naturally could also have several presses
constructed in the manner of the press 1. In this manner, a
considerable increase of the piece number can be implemented while
the investment requirements are increased only insignificantly.
