Description

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0001] The present invention relates to storage devices, and more specifically, to a combination oil and tool storage device, which is comprised of a toolbox and an oil storage tank detachably covered on the toolbox.

[0002] Due to certain reasons, an agricultural machine, vessel, or vehicle driver may have to carry oil storage means to store spare fuel oil and tool storage means to store a variety of tools and accessories for repair use. It is inconvenient to carry different storage means for storing different storage items. Further, it requires much storage space when several storage means are provided.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0003] The present invention has been accomplished under the circumstances in view. It is the main object of the present invention to provide a combination oil and tool storage device, which combines an oil storage tank and a toolbox into a compact unit convenient for carrying by hand. To achieve this and other objects of the present invention, the combination oil and tool storage device is comprised of a toolbox and an oil storage tank. The toolbox is a top-open container adapted to store tools and other accessories. The oil storage tank is adapted to store oil, having a carrying handle for carrying by hand. The oil storage tank can be partially inserted into the toolbox to close the toolbox. The toolbox has lock means adapted to lock the oil storage tank after insertion of the oil storage tank into the toolbox.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

[0004] FIG. 1 is an exploded view of a combination oil and tool storage device according to the present invention.

[0005] FIG. 2 is a schematic drawing showing the installation of the oil storage tank in the toolbox according to the present invention.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

[0006] Referring to FIGS. 1 and 2, a combination oil and tool storage device in accordance with the present invention is comprised of an oil storage tank 1, and a toolbox 2. The oil storage tank 1 comprises an upper tank body 11 and a lower tank body 12 fixedly fastened together. The upper tank body 11 comprises a peripheral bottom flange 111, a carrying handle 112 provided at the top side thereof for carrying by hand, a spout 113 through which oil is filled into or poured out of the oil storage tank 1, and a sealing cap 114 adapted to close the spout 113. The lower tank body 12 has a peripheral top flange 121 sealed to the peripheral bottom flange 111 of the upper tank body 11. The size of the lower tank body 12 is slightly smaller than the inner diameter of the toolbox 2 so that the lower tank body 12 can be inserted into the toolbox 2. In actual practice, the peripheral top flange 121 of the lower tank body 12 and the peripheral bottom flange 111 of the upper tank body 11 are fixedly fastened together by stamping.

[0007] The toolbox 2 has a peripheral top flange 21 outwardly extended around the periphery of the top open side thereof and fitting over the peripheral top flange 121 of the lower tank body 12 so that the oil storage tank 1 can partially be inserted into the toolbox 2 with the peripheral top flange 121 of the lower tank body 12 supported on the peripheral top flange 21 of the toolbox 2, and two locking hooks 22 provided at two opposite lateral sides and adapted to lock the oil storage tank 1. The height (depth) of the toolbox 2 is greater than the height of the lower tank body 12.

[0008] Referring to FIGS.1 and 2 again, tools and other accessories are stored in the toolbox 2, and then the oil storage tank 1 is inserted into the toolbox 2 with the peripheral top flange 121 of the lower tank body 12 supported on the peripheral top flange 21 of the toolbox 2, and then the locking hooks 22 are turned to the locking position and hooked on the peripheral bottom flange 111 of the upper tank body 11 of the oil storage tank 1. Through the carrying handle 112, the combination oil and tool storage device can conveniently be carried by hand.

[0009] A prototype of combination oil and tool storage device has been constructed with the features of FIGS. 1 and 2. The combination oil and tool storage device functions smoothly to provide all of the features discussed earlier.

[0010] Although a particular embodiment of the invention has been described in detail for purposes of illustration, various modifications and enhancements may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention. Accordingly, the invention is not to be limited except as by the appended claims.
