Description
CROSS-REFERENCES TO RELATED APPLICATIONS
[0001] The present invention is a continuation-in-part application
of the co-pending U.S. Ser. No. 09/767,600, filed on Jan. 22, 2001,
now abandoned.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0002] 1. Field of the Invention
[0003] The present invention relates to a shoe body of a waterproof
boot, and more particularly to a shoe body of a waterproof boot,
wherein by arrangement of the cloth strip, the stretcher may be
used to position the inner side of the vamp of the shoe body on the
surface of the shoe tree closely and completely, thereby obtaining
the optimal size and configuration to fit the requirements of the
waterproof boot.
[0004] 2. Description of the Related Art
[0005] A conventional waterproof boot in accordance with the prior
art shown in FIGS. 5-7 comprises a shoe body 4, and a sole 5. The
shoe body 4 includes a waterproof vamp 41, and an uppers 42. The
sole 5 is secured on the bottom of the vamp 41. The vamp 41 of the
shoe body 4 is formed with an upper opening 411 for combining with
the uppers 42 and a lower opening 412 for combining with the sole
5. The lower opening 412 of the vamp 41 of the shoe body 4 has a
combination plate 413 extended inward for bonding the sole 5. In
general, a shoe tree A needs to be inserted into the vamp 41 of the
shoe body 4, so that the inner face of the vamp 41 of the shoe body
4 is closely and completely rested on the surface of the shoe tree
A, thereby obtaining the optimal shoe configuration. Then, the sole
5 is bonded on the vamp 41 of the shoe body 4.
[0006] However, the combination plate 413 is extended inward and
encompasses the whole periphery of the lower opening 412 of the
vamp 41 of the shoe body 4, thereby interfering with insertion of
the shoe tree A. In addition, the inner space of the vamp 41 of the
shoe body 4 has to be slightly larger than the shoe tree A for
insertion of the shoe tree A. Thus, after the shoe tree A is
inserted into the vamp 41 of the shoe body 4, the inner face of the
vamp 41 of the shoe body 4 cannot closely and completely rested on
the surface of the shoe tree A, so that the size and configuration
and of the vamp 41 of the shoe body 4 do not match that the shoe
tree A, and so that the size and configuration and of the vamp 41
of the shoe body 4 cannot satisfy the requirements of the
waterproof boot.
[0007] The closest prior art of which the applicant is aware is
disclosed in U.S. Pat. No. 5,285,546 to Haimerl, entitled "SHOE
CHARACTERIZED BY A PLASTIC WELT".
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0008] The present invention has arisen to mitigate and/or obviate
the disadvantage of the conventional waterproof boot.
[0009] The primary objective of the present invention is to provide
a shoe body of a waterproof boot, wherein by arrangement of the
cloth strip, the stretcher may be used to position the inner side
of the vamp of the shoe body on the surface of the shoe tree
closely and completely, thereby obtaining the optimal size and
configuration to fit the requirements of the waterproof boot.
[0010] Another objective of the present invention is to provide a
shoe body of a waterproof boot, wherein when the second elongated
side of the cloth strip is turned and folded inward by the
stretcher, the cloth strip will not cover the bottom of the second
combination plate of the vamp. Thus, the bottom of the second
combination plate of the vamp is bonded on and combined with the
sole rigidly and closely, so that the sole will not detach from the
shoe body.
[0011] A further objective of the present invention is to provide a
shoe body of a waterproof boot, wherein the stitching line is
hidden in the stitching groove of the outer side of the second
combination plate of the vamp, so that the sole is bonded on the
shoe body smoothly and rigidly.
[0012] A further objective of the present invention is to provide a
shoe body of a waterproof boot, wherein the stitching line may sew
and fix the first elongated side of the cloth strip on the inner
side of the second combination plate of the vamp by guidance of the
stitching groove of the outer side of the second combination plate
of the vamp.
[0013] In accordance with the present invention, there is provided
a shoe body of a waterproof boot, the shoe body being mounted on
the outermost layer of the waterproof boot and comprising:
[0014] a vamp, having a first side formed with a first opening and
a second side formed with a second opening opposite to the first
opening, the first opening of the vamp having a periphery formed
with a first combination plate, the second opening of the vamp
having a periphery formed with a second combination plate extended
outward, the second combination plate of the second opening of the
vamp having an outer side and an inner side, the outer side of the
second combination plate of the second opening of the vamp having a
periphery formed with a recessed stitching groove;
[0015] a cloth strip, rested on the inner side of the second
combination plate of the second opening of the vamp, and having a
first elongated side sewn on the inner side of the second
combination plate of the second opening of the vamp, and a second
elongated side located opposite to the first elongated side and
extended outward; and
[0016] a stitching line, sewn in the stitching groove of the outer
side of the second combination plate of the second opening of the
vamp, for sewing and fixing the first elongated side of the cloth
strip on the inner side of the second combination plate of the
second opening of the vamp, so that the second elongated side of
the cloth strip is freely turned about the first elongated side of
the cloth strip.
[0017] Further benefits and advantages of the present invention
will become apparent after a careful reading of the detailed
description with appropriate reference to the accompanying
drawings.

a shoe tree.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0025] Referring to the drawings and initially to FIGS. 1-3, a
waterproof boot in accordance with a preferred embodiment of the
present invention comprises a shoe body 1, a sole 2 fixed on the
bottom of the shoe body 1, and an inner member 3 mounted in the
shoe body 1.
[0026] The inner member 3 includes a warming layer 31 made of
cotton or wool, an inner layer 32 made of foam material, a shoe
cushion 33, and a bottom cushion 34 made of paper.
[0027] The shoe body 1 is mounted on the outermost layer of the
waterproof boot and includes an uppers 10, a vamp 11, a cloth strip
12, and a stitching line 116.
[0028] The uppers 10 of the shoe body 1 is made of a plurality of
sheets of leather material or cloth material sewn together.
[0029] The vamp 11 of the shoe body 1 is made of a thermoplastic
waterproof material, such as rubber, so as to provide a waterproof
function. The vamp 11 of the shoe body 1 has a first side formed
with a first opening 111 and a second side formed with a second
opening 112 opposite to the first opening 111. The first opening
111 of the vamp 11 has a periphery formed with a first combination
plate 113 extended inward for sewing the uppers 10. The second
opening 112 of the vamp 11 has a periphery formed with a second
combination plate 114 extended outward. The second combination
plate 114 of the second opening 112 of the vamp 11 has an outer
side 1141 and an inner side 1142. The outer side 1141 of the second
combination plate 114 of the second opening 112 of the vamp 11 has
a periphery formed with a recessed stitching groove 115.
[0030] The cloth strip 12 of the shoe body 1 is rested on the inner
side 1142 of the second combination plate 114 of the second opening
112 of the vamp 11, and has a first elongated side 121 aligning
with the stitching groove 115 of the outer side 1141 of the second
combination plate 114 of the second opening 112 of the vamp 11, and
a second elongated side 122 located opposite to the first elongated
side 121 and extended outward.
[0031] The stitching line 116 of the shoe body 1 is sewn in the
stitching groove 115 of the outer side 1141 of the second
combination plate 114 of the second opening 112 of the vamp 11, for
sewing and fixing the first elongated side 121 of the cloth strip
12 on the inner side 1142 of the second combination plate 114 of
the second opening 112 of the vamp 11, so that the second elongated
side 122 of the cloth strip 12 is freely turned about the first
elongated side 121 of the cloth strip 12.
[0032] Referring to FIG. 4 with reference to FIGS. 1-3, the vamp 11
of the shoe body 1 is formed with a fully opened second opening
112, so that the shoe tree A is inserted into the second opening
112 of the vamp 11 easily and conveniently. Thus, after the shoe
tree A is inserted into the second opening 112 of the vamp 11, a
stretcher (not shown) may be used to clamp the second elongated
side 122 of the cloth strip 12 to pull the cloth strip 12 to move
inward, so that the cloth strip 12 is closely pressed on the bottom
face A1 of the shoe tree A. In such a manner, the inner side of the
vamp 11 of the shoe body 1 is closely and completely rested on the
surface of the shoe tree A, so that the size and configuration and
of the vamp 11 of the shoe body 1 entirely satisfy the requirements
of the waterproof boot. Thus, by arrangement of the cloth strip 12,
the stretcher (not shown) may be used to position the inner side of
the vamp 11 of the shoe body 1 on the surface of the shoe tree A
closely and completely, thereby obtaining the optimal size and
configuration to fit the requirements of the waterproof boot.
[0033] In addition, the first elongated side 121 of the cloth strip
12 is sewn on the inner side 1142 of the second combination plate
114 of the second opening 112 of the vamp 11, so that when the
second elongated side 122 of the cloth strip 12 is turned and
folded inward by the stretcher, the cloth strip 12 will not cover
the bottom of the second combination plate 114 of the second
opening 112 of the vamp 11. Thus, the bottom of the second
combination plate 114 of the second opening 112 of the vamp 11 is
bonded on and combined with the sole 2 rigidly and closely as shown
in FIG. 2, so that the sole 2 will not detach from the shoe body
1.
[0034] Further, the stitching line 116 of the shoe body 1 is hidden
in the stitching groove 115 of the outer side 1141 of the second
combination plate 114 of the second opening 112 of the vamp 11, so
that the sole 2 is bonded on the shoe body 1 smoothly and
rigidly.
[0035] In addition, the stitching line 116 of the shoe body 1 may
sew and fix the first elongated side 121 of the cloth strip 12 on
the inner side 1142 of the second combination plate 114 of the
second opening 112 of the vamp 11 by guidance of the stitching
groove 115 of the outer side 1141 of the second combination plate
114 of the second opening 112 of the vamp 11.
[0036] In comparison, the waterproof boot in accordance with the
preferred embodiment of the present invention is compared with the
Haimerl (U.S. Pat. No. 5,285,546) reference as follows.
[0037] 1. In the present invention, after the cloth strip 12 is
folded inward, the cloth strip 12 is flush with and is not
protruded outward from the bottom of the second combination plate
114 of the vamp 11, so that the second combination plate 114 of the
vamp 11 is bonded on and combined with the sole 2 rigidly and
closely. In contrast, in the Haimer1 reference, the shaft 12 cannot
provide a waterproof function, while the marginal strip 12b is used
to provide a waterproof function. If the marginal strip 12b is
flush with the shaft 12, the waterproof effect of the marginal
strip 12b fails, so that the marginal strip 12b cannot be flush
with the shaft 12. Thus, the marginal strip 12b is connected to the
bottom of the shaft 12, and is not flush with the shaft 12.
[0038] 2. In the present invention, the cloth strip 12 and the
inner side 1142 of the second combination plate 114 of the vamp 11
have a larger contact area, so that the cloth strip 12 is sewn on
the inner side 1142 of the second combination plate 114 of the vamp
11 closely and rigidly. In contrast, in the Haimer1 reference, the
marginal strip 12b and the bottom of the shaft 12 have a smaller
contact area, so that the marginal strip 12b is not easily sewn on
the bottom of the shaft 12 closely and rigidly.
[0039] 3. In the present invention, the outer side 1141 of the
second combination plate 114 of the vamp 11 has a periphery formed
with a recessed stitching groove 115. In contrast, in the Haimer1
reference, the shaft 12 is not provided with a stitching groove
[0040] Although the invention has been explained in relation to its
preferred embodiment(s) as mentioned above, it is to be understood
that many other possible modifications and variations can be made
without departing from the scope of the present invention. It is,
therefore, contemplated that the appended claim or claims will
cover such modifications and variations that fall within the true
scope of the invention.
