Manual light water gate

Abstract

A manual light water gate includes a water gate and an opening and closing device as main components combined together. A transmitting rod having its lower end connected to the water gate and its upper portion inserted in the opening and closing device is controlled by stop members of the opening and closing device so as to move the water gate to open and close. Such a design is easy in handling and capable to be provided across a ditch, an irrigation canal, etc. available for adjusting its water level.

Claims



What is claimed is:

1. A manual light water gate comprising; A water gate fitted in a gate opening formed by two opposite vertical inner walls of a concrete frame, said water gate having a plurality of pulleys provided at two opposite outer sides for smoothly sliding up and down in said gate opening, several water seals provided at proper positions and a connector fixed on a top center for a transmitting rod to be pivotally connected with; An opening and closing device contained in a machine housing, said machine housing fixed on an upper side of said concrete frame, said opening and closing device having two horizontal separating plates respectively having a rod hole for said transmitting rod to pass through, three stop members respectively having a rod hole for said transmitting rod to pass through, and a spring provided between each said separating plate and each said stop member, said springs activated to push against said three stop members by resilient force and then produce a frictional resistance between said transmitting rod and said rod holes of said stop members, said machine housing further provided with two operating levers, each said operating lever having a support shaft as a pivot and a press wheel activated by said operating lever to press a corresponding one of said stop members to let said stop member and said transmitting rod form different angles, thus producing a proper friction between said rod holes and said transmitting rod, said friction enabling said stop members to drive said transmitting rod together with said water gate to move up and down smoothly.

2. The manual light water gate as claimed in claim 1, wherein cams replace the press wheels.
Description



BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0001] This invention relates to a manual light water gate, particularly to one possible to be provided across a waterway, a ditch, an irrigation canal, etc. for regulating its water level, simple in structure and easy in handling.

[0002] In general, a water gate is provided at an outlet of an irrigation canal, a reservoir or the like, depending on practical needs. A known conventional water gate is commonly controlled to open and close by turning around a rotating disk manually to move a threaded rod fixed with the water gate. However, in order to allow this threaded rod to rotate smoothly all the time, certain lubricant is needed to apply on the threaded rod and that very often, otherwise deadlocked condition between its male and female threads is liable to occur, accordingly rendering the water gate unable to be opened and closed.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0003] The objective of this invention is to offer a light water gate simple in structure and capable to be manually controlled with easiness.

[0004] The features of the invention are as follows.

[0005] 1. A transmitting rod has its lower end connected pivotally with a water gate and its upper portion inserted in an opening and closing device, which is actuated to control the water gate to open and close.

[0006] 2. Opening and closing of the water gate are controlled by two operating levers provided in the opening and closing device.

[0007] 3. The frictional resistance produced between stop members and the transmitting rod of the opening and closing device functions to permit the water gate to open, to close and to be kept at any place opened.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

[0017] A first preferred embodiment of a manual light water gate in the present invention, as shown in FIGS. 1, 2 and 3, includes a water gate 1 and an opening and closing device 3 combined together.

[0018] The water gate 1 is fitted in a gate opening 20 formed by two opposite vertical inner walls of a concrete frame 2 and has a plurality of pulleys 10 provided on two opposite outer sides in order to slide up and down smoothly in the gate opening 20. Then, plural water seals 11 are provided at proper positions of the water gate 1 to prevent water inside from seeping out, and a connector 12 is fixed on the top center of the water gate 1 for connecting pivotally with a vertical transmitting rod 13 extending upward through the concrete frame 2 and mounted in the opening and closing device 3.

[0019] The opening and closing device 3 is contained in a machine housing 30, having two horizontal separating plates 31, 32 respectively having a rod hole 310, 320 for a transmitting rod 13 to pass through, and three stop members 33, 34, 35 orderly positioned spaced apart from top to bottom, with each stop member having a rod hole 330, 340, 350 also for the transmitting rod 13 to pass through therein. The rod holes 330, 340 and 350 are shaped round or hexagonal, as shown in FIG. 8, conforming to the shape of the transmitting rod 13. Besides, three springs 360, 361 and 362 are respectively provided between the separating plate 31 and the stop member 33, between the separating plate 31 and the stop member 34 and between the separating plate 32 and the stop member 35. These three stop members 33, 34, and 35 are pushed against by the resilient force of the springs 360, 361 and 362 to produce frictional resistance between the transmitting rod 13 and the rod holes 330, 340 and 350 of the stop members 33, 34 and 35. Thus, the transmitting rod 13 is stuck immovable and the water gate 12 is supported immovable at the place opened, as shown in FIG. 2. In addition, two operating levers 37 and 38 are respectively provided on the separating plate 32 and on the inner wall of the machine housing 30, respectively having a support shaft 370, 380 as a pivot and a press wheel 371, 381 to push against the stop members 33, 34 to move upward and downward.

[0020] To open the water gate, just press down the operating lever 37 for a certain angle to make its press wheel 371 push up the stop member 34 partially and let the stop member 34 positioned in a .theta.2 angle with the transmitting rod 13 so as to produce a proper friction force between the rod hole 340 of the stop member 34 and the transmitting rod 13. Thus, the stop member 34 will move the transmitting rod 13 up by the friction force, as shown in FIG. 2, and when the transmitting rod 13 moves up to a required distance and the stop member 34 recovers to a .theta.1 angle shown in FIG. 1, the transmitting rod 13 can be supported in place by the stop members 33 and 35. On the contrary, to close up the water gate, press down the operating lever 38 to push the stop member 33 partially downward by the press wheel 381, and synchronously pull up the stop member 35 by a linking rod 382 having its upper end connected to the bottom of the operating lever 38 by means of a spring 383. Under such condition, the transmitting rod 13 is gradually pushed downward by the friction force between itself and the rod holes 330 and 350 and then the water gate is closed up.

[0021] A second preferred embodiment of a manual light water gate is shown in FIGS. 5, 6 and 7, having the same opening and closing device 3 as that in the first preferred embodiment, only the two press wheels 371, 381 of the operating levers 37, 38 in the first embodiment are replaced by two cams 371A, 381A. These two cams 371A and 381A are turned by the operating levers 37 and 38 to a certain angle to push against the stop members 33, 34 and 35 to drive the transmitting rod 13 together with the water gate to move up and down at the same time.

[0022] As can be noted from the above description, the manual light water gate of this invention is convenient in installing and easy in handling, and above all, it is suitable to be installed at remote regions where power can hardly be available.

[0023] While the preferred embodiments of the invention have been described above, it will be recognized and understood that various modifications may be made therein and the appended claims are intended to cover all such modifications that may fall within the spirit and scope of the invention.
