Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0001] 1. Field of the Invention
[0002] This invention is related to a walking stick and in
particular to one which can give light as required by the user.
[0003] 2. Description of the Prior Art
[0004] As shown in FIG. 1, the conventional walking stick 10
generally includes an elongated rod 12 which is provided at the top
with a handle 11, so that one may use it to assist in walking.
However, when a user walks at night or in the dark, she or he has
to carry a flashlight with her or him so as to ensure her or his
safety thereby causing much inconvenience in use.
[0005] Therefore, it is an object of the present invention to
provide an illuminating walking stick which can obviate and
mitigate the above-mentioned drawbacks.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0006] This invention is related to an improvement in the structure
of a walking stick.
[0007] It is the primary object of the present invention to provide
a walking stick which includes an elongated rod provided at a top
with a T-shaped handle, wherein the T-shaped handle is formed with
a longitudinal chamber provided at a front end with a lighting
assembly and at a rear end with a switch electrically connected
with the lighting assembly by two electrical wires, so that the
lighting assembly will be turned on or off by controlling the
switch, whereby the walling stick can be used as a flashlight thus
ensuring the safety of the user.
[0008] The foregoing object and summary provide only a brief
introduction to the present invention. To fully appreciate these
and other objects of the present invention as well as the invention
itself, all of which will become apparent to those skilled in the
art, the following detailed description of the invention and the
claims should be read in conjunction with the accompanying
drawings. Throughout the specification and drawings identical
reference numerals refer to identical or similar parts.
[0009] Many other advantages and features of the present invention
will become manifest to those versed in the art upon making
reference to the detailed description and the accompanying sheets
of drawings in which a preferred structural embodiment
incorporating the principles of the present invention is shown by
way of illustrative example.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
[0010] FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a prior art walking
stick;
[0011] FIG. 2 is an exploded view of the present invention;
[0012] FIG. 3 is a perspective view of the present invention;
[0013] FIG. 4 is a sectional view of the present invention;
[0014] FIG. 5 illustrates a second preferred embodiment of the
present invention; and
[0015] FIG. 6 is a perspective view of the second preferred
embodiment.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
[0016] For the purpose of promoting an understanding of the
principles of the invention, reference will now be made to the
embodiment illustrated in the drawings. Specific language will be
used to describe same. It will, nevertheless, be understood that no
limitation of the scope of the invention is thereby intended,
alterations and further modifications in the illustrated device,
and further applications of the principles of the invention as
illustrated herein being contemplated as would normally occur to
one skilled in the art to which the invention relates.
[0017] Referring to FIGS. 2, 3 and 4, the illuminating walking
stick 20 according to the present invention comprises an elongated
rod 21 provided at the top with a T-shaped handle 22. The T-shaped
handle 22 is formed with a longitudinal chamber 23 provided at the
front end with a lighting assembly 24 and at the rear end with a
switch 25 electrically connected with the lighting assembly 24 by
two electrical wires 26, so that the lighting assembly 24 will be
turned on or off by controlling the switch 25.
[0018] FIGS. 5 and 6 illustrate a second preferred embodiment of
the present invention. As illustrated, the walking stick has a
T-shaped handle 22A which is formed with a chamber 23A which is
blind at one end thereof. A lighting assembly 24A is fitted within
the chamber 23A. The lighting assembly 24A has a rotatable
lampshade 241A which serves as a turning switch at the outer end so
that the lighting assembly 24 can be turned on or off by turning
the lampshade 241A. The rotatable lampshade 241A which serves as a
turning switch is well in the art and has no need to be described
here in detail.
[0019] It will be understood that each of the elements described
above, or two or more together may also find a useful application
in other types of methods differing from the type described
above.
[0020] While certain novel features of this invention have been
shown and described and are pointed out in the annexed claim, it is
not intended to be limited to the details above, since it will be
understood that various omissions, modifications, substitutions and
changes in the forms and details of the device illustrated and in
its operation can be made by those skilled in the art without
departing in any way from the spirit of the present invention.
