Oval gemstone arrangements with settings
Abstract
A multi-stone oval setting having four substantially
triangular-shaped gemstones or diamonds therein and two
substantially rectangular-shaped gemstones or diamonds therein and
held together in the setting to produce the appearance of an
overall oval-shaped gemstone. The multi-stone oval setting includes
a prong assembly having four prong members and one or more curved
side rail members connected to the four prong members to form an
oval-shaped setting. The oval-shaped setting also includes a first
crossbar member with first and second insert retaining edges formed
therein and extending in a first direction; and having a second
crossbar member with third and fourth insert retaining edges formed
therein and being parallel to the first crossbar member and also
extending in the first direction; and having a third crossbar
member being perpendicular to the first and second crossbar members
and extending in a second direction. The crossbar members form six
seating areas for receiving therein each of the six gemstones or
diamonds. Additionally, each of the four prong members are used for
engaging the gemstones or diamonds in order to keep the four
gemstones or diamonds seated within each of the four seating areas
of the outer rows of the oval-shaped setting.

Claims
What is claimed is:
1. A multi-stone oval setting for receiving four substantially
triangular-shaped gemstones or diamonds and two substantially
rectangular-shaped gemstones or diamonds in said setting,
comprising: a) a prong assembly having four prong members; b) one
or more curved side rail member connected to said four prong
members to form an oval-shaped setting; c) said oval-shaped setting
having a first crossbar member with first and second insert means
formed therein and extending in a first direction; and having a
second crossbar member with third and fourth insert means formed
therein and being parallel to said first crossbar and also
extending in said first direction; and having a third crossbar
member being perpendicular to said first and second crossbar
members and extending in a second direction; d) said first and
second crossbar members each being connected at their respective
ends thereof to two opposed side rail members of said curved side
rail members and said third crossbar member being connected at its
respective ends thereof to the other two opposed side rail members
of said curved side rail members for forming six seating areas; e)
each of said six seating areas for receiving therein each of said
six gemstones or diamonds within each of said six seating areas;
said six seating areas defining two outer rows of gemstones or
diamonds and an inner row of gemstones or diamonds; f) said four
triangular-shaped gemstones or diamonds each having two side walls
and a curved outer wall and three corners, respectively; g) said
two rectangular-shaped gemstones or diamonds each having three side
walls and a curved outer wall and four corners, respectively; h)
each of said four triangular-shaped gemstones or diamonds having at
least one of said side walls formed with a groove therein for
engaging said first or fourth insert means of said first and second
crossbar members for seating two of said four triangular-shaped
gemstones or diamonds in each of said two outer rows and for
supporting said four triangular-shaped gemstones or diamonds in
said outer rows of said oval-shaped setting; i) each of said two
rectangular-shaped gemstones or diamonds having two parallel side
walls of said side walls formed with a groove therein for engaging
said second or third insert means of said first and second crossbar
members for seating said two rectangular-shaped gemstones or
diamonds in said inner row and for supporting said two
rectangular-shaped gemstones or diamonds in said inner row of said
oval-shaped setting; and j) each of said four prong members for
engaging said gemstones or diamonds to keep said four gemstones or
diamonds seated within each of said four seating areas of said
outer rows of said oval-shaped setting.
2. A multi-stone oval setting in accordance with claim 1, wherein
each of said four prong members engage said curved outer walls of
each of said gemstones or diamonds within each of said two outer
rows in order to keep said four gemstones or diamonds seated within
said four seating areas of said two outer rows of said multi-stone
oval setting.
3. A multi-stone oval setting in accordance with claim 2, wherein
each of said four prong members engage each of said gemstones or
diamonds at a mid-point along said curved outer walls for keeping
said four gemstones or diamonds seated within said four seating
areas of said outer rows of said multi-stone oval setting.
4. A multi-stone oval setting in accordance with claim 1, wherein
each of said two outer rows of said four seating areas each have a
triangular-shape for receiving each of said triangular-shaped
gemstones or diamonds therein.
5. A multi-stone oval setting in accordance with claim 1, wherein
said first, second, third and fourth insert means include first,
second, third and fourth retaining insert edge members,
respectively.
6. A multi-stone oval setting in accordance with claim 1, wherein
said curved outer wall of said triangular-shaped gemstone or
diamond includes an elliptical arc angle alpha (.alpha.) in the
range of 50.degree. to 80.degree. with a preferred elliptical arc
angle alpha (.alpha.) of 65.degree..
7. A multi-stone oval setting in accordance with claim 1, wherein
said curved outer wall of said rectangular-shaped gemstone or
diamond includes an elliptical arc angle beta (.beta.) in the range
of 30.degree. to 50.degree. with a preferred elliptical arc angle
beta (.beta.) of 40.degree..
8. A multi-stone oval setting in accordance with claim 1, wherein
said prong assembly includes a lower support frame having one or
more curved side frame members connected to said four prong members
to form a bottom gallery.
9. A multi-stone oval setting in accordance with claim 8, wherein
said bottom gallery includes a bottom gallery crossbar member.
10. A multi-stone oval setting in accordance with claim 9, wherein
said bottom gallery cross member is integrally attached to a
connecting bar member for attachment to a jewelry holding member
for forming a piece of jewelry.
11. A multi-stone oval setting in accordance with claim 10, wherein
said connecting bar member is attached to a jewelry holding member
to form a ring, a pin, a brooch, a pendant, a clasp, a necklace, a
bracelet, an anklet or earrings.
12. A multi-stone oval setting in accordance with claim 1, wherein
said multi-stone oval setting is made from gold, silver, platinum,
palladium, or other precious metals.
13. A multi-stone oval setting in accordance with claim 1, wherein
said multi-stone oval setting is made into different size settings
based upon the weight of the six gemstones or diamonds, said total
weight being in the range of 0.36 to 4.0 carats.
14. A multi-stone oval setting for receiving four substantially
triangular-shaped gemstones or diamonds and two substantially
rectangular-shaped gemstones or diamonds in said setting,
comprising: a) a prong assembly having four pairs of prong members;
b) one or more curved side rail member connected to said four pairs
of prong members to form an oval-shaped setting; c) said
oval-shaped setting having a first crossbar member with first and
second insert means formed therein and extending in a first
direction; and having a second crossbar member with third and
fourth insert means formed therein and being parallel to said first
crossbar and also extending in said first direction; and having a
third crossbar member being perpendicular to said first and second
crossbar members and extending in a second direction; d) said first
and second crossbar members each being connected at their
respective ends thereof to two opposed side rail members of said
curved side rail members and said third crossbar member being
connected at its respective ends thereof to the other two opposed
side rail members of said curved side rail members for forming six
seating areas; e) each of said six seating areas for receiving
therein each of said six gemstones or diamonds within each of said
six seating areas; said six seating areas defining two outer rows
of gemstones or diamonds and an inner row of gemstones or diamonds;
f) said four triangular-shaped gemstones or diamonds each having
two side walls and a curved outer wall and three corners,
respectively; g) said two rectangular-shaped gemstones or diamonds
each having three side walls and a curved outer wall and four
corners, respectively; h) each of said four triangular-shaped
gemstones or diamonds having at least one of said side walls formed
with a groove therein for engaging said first or fourth insert
means of said first and second crossbar members for seating two of
said four triangular-shaped gemstones or diamonds in each of said
two outer rows and for supporting said four triangular-shaped
gemstones or diamonds in said outer rows of said oval-shaped
setting; i) each of said two rectangular-shaped gemstones or
diamonds having two parallel side walls of said side walls formed
with a groove therein for engaging said second or third insert
means of said first and second crossbar members for seating said
two rectangular-shaped gemstones or diamonds in said inner row and
for supporting said two rectangular-shaped gemstones or diamonds in
said inner row of said oval-shaped setting; and j) each of said
four pairs of prong members for engaging said gemstones or diamonds
to keep said four gemstones or diamonds seated within each of said
four seating areas of said outer rows of said oval-shaped
setting.
15. A multi-stone oval setting in accordance with claim 14, wherein
each of said four pairs of prong members engage said curved outer
walls of each of said gemstones or diamonds within each of said two
outer rows in order to keep said four gemstones or diamonds seated
within said four seating areas of said two outer rows of said
multi-stone oval setting.
16. a multi-stone oval setting in accordance with claim 15, wherein
each of said four pairs of prong members engage each of said
gemstones or diamonds at a mid-point along said curved outer walls
for keeping said four gemstones or diamonds seated within said four
seating areas of said outer rows of said multi-stone oval
setting.
17. A multi-stone oval setting in accordance with claim 14, wherein
each of said two outer rows of said four seating areas each have a
triangular-shape for receiving each of said triangular-shaped
gemstones or diamonds therein.
18. A multi-stone oval setting in accordance with claim 14, wherein
said first, second, third and fourth insert means include first,
second, third and fourth retaining insert edge members,
respectively.
19. A multi-stone oval setting in accordance with claim 14, wherein
said curved outer wall of said triangular-shaped gemstone or
diamond includes an elliptical arc angle alpha (.alpha.) in the
range of 50.degree. to 80.degree. with a preferred elliptical arc
angle alpha (.alpha.) of 65.degree..
20. A multi-stone oval setting in accordance with claim 14, wherein
said curved outer wall of said rectangular-shaped gemstone or
diamond includes an elliptical arc angle beta (.beta.) in the range
of 30.degree. to 50.degree. with a preferred elliptical arc angle
beta (.beta.) of 40.degree..
21. A multi-stone oval setting in accordance with claim 14, wherein
said prong assembly includes a lower support frame having one or
more curved side frame members connected to said four pairs of
prong members to form a bottom gallery.
22. A multi-stone oval setting in accordance with claim 21, wherein
said bottom gallery includes a bottom gallery crossbar member.
23. A multi-stone oval setting in accordance with claim 22, wherein
said bottom gallery cross member is integrally attached to a
connecting bar member for attachment to a jewelry holding member
for forming a piece of jewelry.
24. A multi-stone oval setting in accordance with claim 23, wherein
said connecting bar member is attached to a jewelry holding member
to form a ring, a pin, a brooch, a pendant, a clasp, a necklace, a
bracelet, an anklet or earrings.
25. A multi-stone oval setting in accordance with claim 14, wherein
aid multi-stone round setting is made from gold, silver, platinum,
palladium, or other precious metals.
26. A multi-stone oval setting in accordance with claim 14, wherein
said multi-stone round setting is made into different size settings
based upon the weight of the six gemstones or diamonds, said total
weight being in the range of 0.36 to 4.0 carats.
27. A multi-stone oval setting for receiving four substantially
triangular-shaped gemstones or diamonds and two substantially
rectangular-shaped gemstones or diamonds in said setting,
comprising: a) an end cap holding assembly having two end cap
holding members; b) one or more curved side rail members connected
to said two end cap holding members to form an oval-shaped setting;
c) said oval-shaped setting having a first crossbar member with
first and second insert means formed therein and extending in a
first direction; and having a second crossbar member with third and
fourth insert means formed therein and being parallel to said first
crossbar and also extending in said first direction; and having a
third crossbar member being perpendicular to said first and second
crossbar members and extending in a second direction; d) said first
and second crossbar members each being connected at their
respective ends thereof to two opposed side rail members of said
curved side rail members and said third crossbar member being
connected at its respective ends thereof to the outer two opposed
side rail members of said curved side rail members for forming six
seating areas; e) each of said six seating areas for receiving
therein each of said six gemstones or diamonds within each of said
six seating areas; said six seating areas defining two outer rows
of gemstones or diamonds and an inner row of gemstones or diamonds;
f) said four triangular-shaped gemstones or diamonds each having
two side walls and a curved outer wall and three corners,
respectively; g) said two rectangular-shaped gemstones or diamonds
each having three side walls and a curved outer wall and four
corners respectively; h) each of said four triangular-shaped
gemstones or diamonds having at least one of said side walls formed
with a groove therein for engaging said first or fourth insert
means of said first and second crossbar members for seating two of
said four triangular-shaped gemstones or diamonds in each of said
two outer rows and for supporting said four triangular-shaped
gemstones or diamonds in said outer rows and for supporting said
four triangular-shaped gemstones or diamonds in said outer rows of
said oval-shaped setting; i) each of said two rectangular-shaped
gemstones or diamonds having two parallel side walls of said side
walls formed with a groove therein for engaging said second or
third insert means of said first and second crossbar members for
seating said two rectangular-shaped gemstones or diamonds in said
inner row and for supporting said two rectangular-shaped gemstones
or diamonds in said inner row of said oval-shaped setting; and j)
each of said two end cap holding members for engaging said
gemstones or diamonds to keep said four gemstones or diamonds
seated within each of said four seating areas of said outer rows of
said oval-shaped setting.
28. A multi-stone oval setting in accordance with claim 27, wherein
each of said two end cap holding members engage said curved outer
walls of each of said gemstones or diamonds within each of said two
outer rows in order to keep said four gemstones or diamonds seated
within said four seating areas of said two outer rows of said
multi-stone oval setting.
29. A multi-stone oval setting in accordance with claim 28, wherein
each of said two end cap members engage each of said gemstones or
diamonds at a mid-point along said curved outer walls for keeping
said four gemstones or diamonds seated within said four seating
areas of said outer rows of said multi-stone oval setting.
30. A multi-stone oval setting in accordance with claim 28, wherein
each of said two outer rows of said four seating areas each have a
triangular-shape for receiving each of said triangular-shaped
gemstones or diamonds therein.
31. A multi-stone oval setting in accordance with claim 27, wherein
said first, second, third and fourth insert means include first,
second, third and fourth retaining insert edge members,
respectively.
32. A multi-stone oval setting in accordance with claim 27, wherein
said curved outer wall of said triangular-shaped gemstone or
diamond includes an elliptical arc angle alpha (.alpha.) in the
range of 50.degree. to 80.degree. with a preferred elliptical arc
angle alpha (.alpha.) of 65.degree..
33. A multi-stone oval setting in accordance with claim 27, wherein
said curved outer wall of said rectangular-shaped gemstone or
diamond includes a elliptical arc angle beta (.beta.) in the range
of 30.degree. to 50.degree. with a preferred elliptical arc angle
beta (.beta.) of 40.degree..
34. A multi-stone oval setting in accordance with claim 27, wherein
said prong assembly includes a lower support frame having one or
more curved side frame members connected to said four prong members
to form a bottom gallery.
35. A multi-stone oval setting in accordance with claim 34, wherein
said bottom gallery includes a bottom gallery crossbar member.
36. A multi-stone oval setting in accordance with claim 35, wherein
said bottom gallery cross member is integrally attached to a
connecting bar member for attachment to a jewelry holding member
for forming a piece of jewelry.
37. A multi-stone oval setting in accordance with claim 36, wherein
said connecting bar member is attached to a jewelry holding member
to form a ring, a pin, a brooch, a pendant, a clasp, a necklace, a
bracelet, an anklet or earrings.
38. A multi-stone oval setting in accordance with claim 27, wherein
said multi-stone round setting is made from gold, silver, platinum,
palladium, or other precious metals.
39. A multi-stone oval setting in accordance with claim 27, wherein
said multi-stone round setting is made into different size settings
based upon the weight of the six gemstones or diamonds, said total
weight being in the range of 0.36 to 4.0 carats.
40. A multi-stone oval setting for receiving two substantially
semi-circular shaped gemstones or diamonds in said setting,
comprising: a) a prong assembly having four pairs of prong members;
b) one or more curved side rail members connected to said four
prong members to form an oval-shaped setting; c) a center crossbar
member connected at the ends thereof to said curved side rail
members for forming two seating areas; said crossbar member having
first and second insert means; d) said two seating areas each for
receiving one of said two gemstones or diamonds; e) said two
semi-circular shaped gemstones or diamonds each having one side
wall and a curved outer wall and two corners, respectively; f) each
of said two semi-circular shaped gemstones or diamonds having said
side wall with a groove formed therein for engaging said first or
second insert means of said center crossbar member for seating each
of said semi-circular shaped gemstones or diamonds within each of
said two seating areas and for supporting said two gemstones or
diamonds in said two seating areas; and g) each of said four prong
members for engaging said two gemstones or diamonds to keep said
two gemstones or diamonds seated within said two seating areas of
said multi-stone oval setting.
41. A multi-stone oval setting in accordance with claim 40, wherein
each of said four prong members engage said curved outer walls of
each of said gemstones or diamonds to keep said two gemstones or
diamonds seated within said two seating areas of said multi-stone
oval setting.
42. A multi-stone oval setting in accordance with claim 41, wherein
each of said four prong members engage each of said gemstones or
diamonds at a mid-point along said curved outer wall for keeping
said four gemstones or diamonds seated within said two seating
areas of said multi-stone oval setting.
43. A multi-stone oval setting in accordance with claim 40, wherein
each of said two seating areas each have a semi-circular shape for
receiving two of said semi-circular shaped gemstones or diamonds
therein.
44. A multi-stone oval setting in accordance with claim 40, wherein
said first and second insert means include first and second
retaining insert edge members.
45. A multi-stone oval setting in accordance with claim 40, wherein
said curved outer wall of said semi-circular shaped gemstone or
diamond includes an elliptical arc angle gamma (.gamma.) in the
range of 175.degree. to 185.degree. with a preferred elliptical arc
angle gamma (.gamma.) of 180.degree..
46. A multi-stone oval setting in accordance with claim 40, wherein
said prong assembly includes a lower support frame having one or
more curved side frame members connected to said four prong members
to form a bottom gallery.
47. A multi-stone oval setting in accordance with claim 46, wherein
said bottom gallery includes a bottom gallery crossbar member.
48. A multi-stone oval setting in accordance with claim 47, wherein
said bottom gallery cross member is integrally attached to a
connecting bar member for attachment to a jewelry holding member
for forming a piece of jewelry.
49. 12. A multi-stone round setting in accordance with claim 48.
wherein said connecting bar member is attached to a jewelry holding
member to form a ring, a pin, a brooch, a pendant, a clasp, a
necklace, a bracelet, an anklet or earrings.
50. A multi-stone oval setting in accordance with claim 40, wherein
said multi-stone round setting is made from gold, silver, platinum,
palladium, or other precious metals.
51. A multi-stone oval setting in accordance with claim 40, wherein
said multi-stone round setting is made into different size settings
based upon the weight of the two gemstones or diamonds, said total
weight being in the range of 0.36 to 4.0 carats.
52. A multi-stone oval setting for receiving two substantially
semi-circular shaped gemstones or diamonds in said setting,
comprising: a) a prong assembly having four pairs of prong members;
b) one or more curved side rail members connected to said four
pairs of prong members to form an oval-shaped setting; c) a center
crossbar member connected at the ends thereof to said curved side
rail members for forming two seating areas; said crossbar member
having first and second insert means; d) said two seating areas
each for receiving said two gemstones or diamonds; e) said two
semi-circular shaped gemstones or diamonds each having one side
wall and a curved outerwall and three comers, respectively; f) each
of said two semi-circular shaped gemstones or diamonds having said
side wall with a groove formed therein for engaging said first or
second insert means of said center crossbar member for seating each
of said semi-circular shaped gemstones or diamonds within each of
said two seating areas and for supporting said four gemstones or
diamonds in said two seating areas; and g) each of said four pairs
of prong members for engaging said two gemstones or diamonds to
keep said two gemstones or diamonds seated within said two seating
areas of said multi-stone oval setting.
53. A multi-stone oval setting in accordance with claim 52, wherein
each of said four pairs of prong members engage said curved outer
walls of each of said gemstones or diamonds to keep said two
gemstone or diamonds seated within said two seating areas of said
multi-stone oval setting.
54. A multi-stone oval setting in accordance with claim 53, wherein
each of said four pairs of prong members engage each of said
gemstones or diamonds at a mid-point along said curved outer wall
for keeping said two gemstones or diamonds seated within said two
seating areas of said multi-stone oval setting.
55. A multi-stone oval setting in accordance with claim 52, wherein
each of said two seating areas each have a semi-circular shape for
receiving each of said semi-circular shaped gemstones or diamonds
therein.
56. A multi-stone oval setting in accordance with claim 52, wherein
said first and second insert means include first and second
retaining insert edge members.
57. A multi-stone oval setting in accordance with claim 52, wherein
said curved outer wall of said semi-circular shaped gemstone or
diamond includes an elliptical arc angle gamma (.gamma.) in the
range of 175.degree. to 185.degree. with a preferred elliptical arc
angle gamma (.gamma.) of 180.degree..
58. A multi-stone oval setting in accordance with claim 52, wherein
said prong assembly includes a lower support frame having one or
more curved side frame members connected to said four prong members
to form a bottom gallery.
59. A multi-stone oval setting in accordance with claim 58, wherein
said bottom gallery includes a bottom gallery crossbar member.
60. A multi-stone oval setting in accordance with claim 59, wherein
said bottom gallery cross member is integrally attached to a
connecting bar member for attachment to a jewelry holding member
for forming a piece of jewelry.
61. A multi-stone oval setting in accordance with claim 60, wherein
said connecting bar member is attached to a jewelry holding member
to form a ring, a pin, a brooch, a pendant, a clasp, a necklace, a
bracelet, an anklet or earrings.
62. A multi-stone oval setting in accordance with claim 52, wherein
said multi-stone round setting is made from gold, silver, platinum,
palladium, or other precious metals.
63. A multi-stone oval setting in accordance with claim 52, wherein
said multi-stone round setting is made into different size settings
based upon the weight of the two gemstones or diamonds, said total
weight being in the range of 0.36 to 4.0 carats.
64. A multi-stone oval setting for receiving two substantially
semi-circular shaped gemstones or diamonds in said setting,
comprising: a) an end cap holding assembly having two end cap
holding members; b) one or more curved side rail members connected
to said two end cap holding members to form an oval-shaped setting;
c) a center crossbar member connected at the ends thereof to said
curved side rail members for forming two seating areas; said
crossbar member having first and second insert means; d) said two
seating areas each for receiving one of said two gemstones or
diamonds; e) said two semi-circular shaped gemstones or diamonds
each having one side wall and a curved outerwall and two comers,
respectively; f) each of said two semi-circular shaped gemstones or
diamonds having said side wall with a groove formed therein for
engaging said first or second insert means of said center crossbar
member for seating each of said semi-circular shaped gemstones or
diamonds within each of said two seating areas and for supporting
said two gemstones or diamonds in said two seating areas; and g)
each of said two end cap holding members for engaging said two
gemstones or diamonds to keep said two gemstones or diamonds seated
within said two seating areas of said multi-stone oval setting.
65. A multi-stone oval setting in accordance with claim 57, wherein
each of said two end cap holding members engage two adjacent
corners of two adjacent gemstones or diamonds to keep said two
gemstones or diamonds seated within each of said two seating areas
of said multi-stone oval setting.
66. A multi-stone oval setting in accordance with claim 43, wherein
each of said two seating areas each have a semi-circular shape for
receiving two of said semi-circular shaped gemstones or diamonds
therein.
67. A multi-stone oval setting in accordance with claim 43, wherein
said first and second insert means include first and second
retaining insert edge members.
68. A multi-stone oval setting in accordance with claim 64, wherein
said curved outer wall of said semi-circular shaped gemstone or
diamond includes an elliptical arc angle gamma (.gamma.) in the
range of 175.degree. to 185.degree. with a preferred elliptical arc
angle gamma (.gamma.) of 180.degree..
69. A multi-stone oval setting in accordance with claim 43, wherein
said prong assembly includes a lower support frame having one or
more curved side frame members connected to said four prong members
to form a bottom gallery.
70. A multi-stone oval setting in accordance with claim 69, wherein
said bottom gallery includes a bottom gallery crossbar member.
71. A multi-stone oval setting in accordance with claim 70, wherein
said bottom gallery cross member is integrally attached to a
connecting bar member for attachment to a jewelry holding member
for forming a piece of jewelry.
72. A multi-stone oval setting in accordance with claim 71, wherein
said connecting bar member is attached to a jewelry holding member
to form a ring, a pin, a brooch, a pendant, a clasp, a necklace, a
bracelet, an anklet or earrings.
73. A multi-stone oval setting in accordance with claim 64, wherein
said multi-stone round setting is made from gold, silver, platinum,
palladium, or other precious metals.
74. A multi-stone oval setting in accordance with claim 64, wherein
said multi-stone round setting is made into different size settings
based upon the weight of the two gemstones or diamonds, said total
weight being in the range 0.36 to 4.0 carats.
Description
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
[0001] The present invention relates to multi-gemstone arrangements
and settings for receiving them. More particularly, these
multi-gemstone arrangements include six (6) or two (2) gemstone
sections for forming oval-shaped gemstone arrangements. Each of the
gemstone sections use a square princess-cut diamond having one or
two of its sides rounded. These combined oval-shaped gemstone
arrangements give a larger appearance than that of a single oval
gemstone of a similar carat weight.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0002] Invisible gemstone settings are well known in the art and
refer to a setting for gemstones in which the setting lies beneath
the visible surface of the gemstones. Typically, to invisibly set a
large number of gemstones, the approach of the prior art has been
to notch the gemstones and to mount them in a setting having two or
more parallel walls, with metallic projections, for example, prongs
or the like, protruding from these walls for engaging the notches.
Generally, these walls define channels in which the gemstones are
set abutting one another in accordance with the invisible mounting
method.
[0003] Invisible gemstone settings for jewelry products suffer from
a number of disadvantages. First, casting of a jewelry item with a
gemstone region including a recess and walls and preparing T-shaped
cross bars is relatively difficult and is therefore a costly
process. Second, the assembly of the jewelry item requires
considerable time of a skilled worker which adds greatly to the
overall cost of the jewelry item. And third, the finished jewelry
item cannot be readily downsized without disturbing the invisible
gemstone setting.
[0004] Therefore, there remains a need for a novel invisible and
multiple gemstone setting for attachment to rings which overcomes
the disadvantages of a conventional multi-stone and invisible
gemstone setting for jewelry items. The multi-stone setting member
should include an oval-shaped metal setting for holding six or two
princess cut gemstones in which the combined gemstone aggregate
gives a larger appearance than that of a single gemstone of a
similar carat weight, and the setting having a positioning pin
thereon for mounting of the setting member to a ring. Additionally,
the multi-stone setting would give the appearance that the oval
setting (metal) is essentially invisible to the eye of the
wearer.
DESCRIPTION OF THE PRIOR ART
[0005] Invisible gemstone settings, multi-gemstone settings,
jewelry settings, multi-gemstone arrangements and the like having
various designs, structures, configurations and functions have been
disclosed in the prior art. For example, U.S. Pat. No. 5,848,539 to
OUZOUNIAN discloses an invisible, multiple precious stone setting
for mounting two or more rows of round-shaped precious stones. This
prior art patent does not disclose the structure and configuration
of the present invention.
[0006] U.S. Pat. No. 5,520,017 to VIVAT discloses jewelry items
with invisible gemstone settings, wherein the gemstone setting
includes at least two walls so as to provide at least one groove.
The groove sidable receives one or more rectangularly-shaped
precious stones therein. This prior art patent does not disclose
the structure and configuration of the present invention.
[0007] U.S. Pat. No. 5,123,265 to RAMOT discloses an invisible
gemstone setting, wherein the gemstone setting assembly includes
one or more gemstones and a setting having a base formed with a
plurality of ribs defining one or more sockets of polygonal
configuration for receiving the gemstones. This prior art patent
does not disclose the structure and configuration of the present
invention.
[0008] U.S. Design Pat. No. DES. 389,087 to KATTAN discloses an
oval gemstone arrangement in a pave setting. This oval gemstone
arrangement includes nine (9) gemstone sections for forming this
oval-shaped gemstone. This prior art design patent does not
disclose or teach the six or two oval gemstone arrangement of the
present invention using a princess-cut diamond for each gemstone
section.
[0009] U.S. Design Pat. No. DES. 392,588 to BACHAR discloses an
elliptical gemstone arrangement. This elliptical gemstone
arrangement includes four (4) marquise-cut gemstone sections for
forming this elliptical-shaped gemstone. This prior art design
patent does not disclose or teach the six or two oval gemstone
arrangement of the present invention using princess-cut diamond for
each gemstone section.
[0010] U.S. Design Pat. No. DES. 392,589 to BACHAR discloses an
oval gemstone arrangement. This oval gemstone arrangement includes
four (4) oval-cut gemstone sections for forming this oval-shaped
gemstone. This prior art design does not disclose or teach the six
or two oval gemstone arrangement of the present invention using a
princess-cut diamond for each gemstone section.
[0011] U.S. Design Pat. No. DES. 415,062 to WOLF discloses an
oval/rectangular-shaped gemstone/jewelry arrangement. This jewelry
arrangement includes twelve (12) gemstones for forming this
oval/rectangular shaped arrangement. This prior art design patent
does not disclose or teach the six or two oval gemstone arrangement
of the present invention using a princess-cut diamond for each
gemstone section.
[0012] None of the aforementioned prior art patents disclose or
teach the multi-stone setting member of the present invention for
receiving therein six or two partially rounded princess-cut
gemstones which gives the appearance of a single oval-shaped
gemstone with the setting having an invisible profile.
[0013] Accordingly, it is an object of the present invention to
provide a multi-stone setting member for holding therein six or two
partially rounded princess-cut gemstones in which the combined
aggregate of the six or two gemstones gives a larger appearance
than that of a single oval gemstone of a similar carat weight (i.e.
a 1.2 carat presentation of the combined six or two gemstones
appears as large as a 2.0 carat oval gemstone, as the present
invention would have a larger table).
[0014] Another object of the present invention is to provide a
multi-stone setting member having six or two gemstones therein that
is less expensive than a single oval gemstone of a similar carat
weight (i.e., the 1.2 carat presentation of the combined six or two
gemstones is less expensive than an actual 1.2 carat single oval
gemstone of the same carat weight).
[0015] Another object of the present invention is to provide a
multi-stone setting member having six or two partially rounded
princess-cut gemstones therein which gives the appearance that the
setting is substantially invisible at distances greater than 12
inches from the jewelry product.
[0016] Another object of the present invention is to provide a
multi-stone setting member that can be varied in size depending
upon the total combined carat weight of the six or two gemstones
within the setting member.
[0017] Another object of the present invention is to provide a
multi-stone setting member that can be made from precious metals
such as gold, silver, platinum or palladium for setting precious
gemstones including diamonds, rubies, sapphires, emeralds and the
like.
[0018] Another object of the present invention is to provide a
multi-stone setting member that can be attached to a jewelry ring
by a plurality of positioning pins integrally connected to the
member housing.
[0019] Another object of the present invention is to provide a
multi-stone setting member having six or two gemstones therein for
use in personal adornment in the form of ornamental jewelry such as
rings.
[0020] A further object of the present invention is to provide a
multi-stone setting member having six or two gemstones therein that
can be produced in an economical manner and is readily affordable
by the jewelry consumer.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0021] In accordance with first embodiment of the present
invention, there is provided a multi-stone oval setting having four
substantially triangular-shaped gemstones or diamonds therein and
two substantially rectangular-shaped gemstones or diamonds therein
and held together in the setting to produce the appearance of an
overall oval-shaped gemstone. The multi-stone oval setting of the
first embodiment includes a prong assembly having four prong
members; and one or more curved side rail member connected to the
four prong members to form a oval-shaped setting. The oval-shaped
setting also includes a first crossbar member with first and second
insert retaining edges formed therein and extending in a first
direction; and having a second crossbar member with third and
fourth insert retaining edges formed therein and being parallel to
the first crossbar member and also extending in the first
direction; and having a third crossbar member being perpendicular
to the first and second crossbar members and extending in a second
direction. The first and second crossbar members are connected at
their respective ends thereof to two opposed side rail members of
the curved side rail members and the third crossbar member is
connected at its respective ends thereof to the other two opposed
side rail members of the curved side rail members for forming six
seating areas. Each of the six seating areas are used for receiving
therein each of the six gemstones or diamonds within each of the
six seating areas; wherein the six seating areas define two outer
rows of gemstones or diamonds and an inner row of gemstones or
diamonds. The four triangular-shaped gemstones or diamonds each
have two side walls and a curved outer wall and three corners,
respectively, and the two rectangular-shaped gemstones or diamonds
each have three side walls and a curved outer wall and four
corners, respectively. Each of the four triangular-shaped gemstones
or diamonds have at least one of the side walls with a groove
formed therein for engaging the first or fourth insert retaining
edge of the first and second crossbar members for seating two of
the four triangular-shaped gemstones or diamonds in each of the two
outer rows and for supporting the four triangular-shaped gemstones
or diamonds in the two outer rows of the oval-shaped setting. Each
of the two rectangular-shaped gemstones or diamonds have two
parallel side walls of the three side walls with a groove formed in
each of the two side walls for engaging the second or third insert
retaining edges of the first and second crossbar members for
seating the two rectangular-shaped gemstones or diamonds in the
inner row and for supporting the two rectangular-shaped gemstones
or diamonds in the inner row of the oval-shaped setting.
Additionally, each of the four prong members are used for engaging
the gemstones or diamonds in order to keep the four gemstones or
diamonds seated within each of the four seating areas of the two
outer rows of the oval-shaped setting.
[0022] In an alternate embodiment of the present invention, there
is provided a multi-stone oval setting and two substantially
semi-circular shaped gemstones or diamonds in the oval setting. The
multi-stone oval setting of the second embodiment includes a prong
assembly having four prong members; and one or more curved side
rail members connected to the four prong members to form an
oval-shaped setting. The center crossbar member is connected at the
ends thereof to the curved side rail members for forming two
seating areas; and the crossbar member has first and second insert
retaining edges thereon. The two seating areas are each for
receiving one of the two gemstones or diamonds. The two
semi-circular shaped gemstones or diamonds each have one side wall
and a curved outerwall and two corners, respectively. Each of the
two semi-circular shaped gemstones or diamonds have one of the side
walls with a groove formed therein for engaging the first or second
insert retaining edges of the center crossbar member for seating
each of the semi-circular shaped gemstones or diamonds within each
of the two seating areas and for supporting the two gemstones or
diamonds in the two seating areas. Also, each of the four prong
members are used for engaging the gemstones in order to keep the
two gemstones or diamonds seated within the two seating areas of
the multi-stone oval setting.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE EMBODIMENTS
OVERVIEW
[0057] The multi-stone oval settings 10, 200, 300, 400, 500 and 600
and their component parts of the first, second, third, fourth,
fifth and sixth embodiments of the present invention for forming a
gemstone or diamond arrangement 20 and 420 within each of those
oval settings are represented in detail by FIGS. 1 through 28 of
the patent drawings. The multi-stone oval settings 10, 200 and 300
are used for holding four substantially triangular-shaped gemstones
or diamonds 22, 24, 30 and 32 and two substantially
rectangular-shaped gemstones or diamonds 26 and 28 within the oval
settings 10, 200 or 300, as shown in FIGS. 1 to 14 of the
drawing.
[0058] Each of the triangular-shaped gemstones or diamonds 22, 24,
30 and 32 include two side walls 22a and 22b, 24a and 24b, 30a and
30b, and 32a and 32b; and includes a curved outer wall 22c, 24c,

22, 24, 30 and 32 include a first outer corner 22e, 24e, 30e and

made from a princess-cut (square) gemstone or diamond prior to the

a specified arc angle beta (.beta.) by a laser apparatus (not
shown), as depicted in FIG. 2A of the drawings. Further, each of
the rectangular/square-shaped gemstones or diamonds 26 and 28
include grooved slots 26j and 26k, and 28j and 28k within each of
the side walls 26a and 26b, and 28a and 28b, respectively, such
that the grooved slots 26j, 28j, 26k and 28k are used to receive
the second and third insert means 57 and 67 of the first and second
crossbar members 50 and 60 for the nesting and seating in the inner
row R2 of gemstones or diamonds 26 and 28, respectively, within the
multi-stone oval settings 10, 200 and 300 of the first, second and
third embodiments of the present invention.

22 to 32 within oval settings 200 or 300, respectively, as shown in

embodiment except for the structure and design of the prong

all other respects this second embodiment is exactly the same as
the first embodiment 10 of the multi-stone oval setting of the
present invention.

80 of the first embodiment has been replaced by an end cap holding
assembly 340 having two end cap holding members 342 and 348
connected to the upper frame assembly 40 of oval setting 300. In
all other respects this third embodiment is exactly the same as the
first embodiment 10 of the multi-stone oval setting of the present
invention.
[0064] The multi-stone oval settings 400, 500 and 600 are used for
holding two substantially semi-circular shaped gemstones or
diamonds 422 and 424 within the oval settings 400, 500 and 600, as
shown in FIGS. 15 through 28 of the patent drawings. Each of the
semicircular shaped gemstones or diamonds 422 and 424 includes an
inner side wall 422a and 424a, and an outer curved wall 422b and
424b, respectively. Also, each of the gemstones or diamonds include
a first inner corner 422c and 424c and a second inner corner 422d
and 424d, respectively, as shown in FIG. 16A of the drawings. Each
curved outer wall 422b and 424b has an elliptical arc angle gamma
(.delta.) in the range of 175.degree. to 185.degree. with a
preferred elliptical arc angle gamma (.delta.) of 180.degree.. Each
of the gemstones or diamonds 422 and 424 is made from a
princess-cut (square) gemstone or diamond prior to the laser
cutting of each outer curved (radius) wall 422b and 424b to a
specified arc angle gamma (.delta.) by a laser apparatus (not
shown), as depicted in FIG. 16A of the drawings. Further, each of
the semi-circular shaped gemstones or diamonds 422 and 424 include
a grooved slot 422e and 424e within each of the side walls 422a and

total carat weight for the gemstones or diamonds 22 to 32 and
gemstones or diamonds 422 and 424 typically are in the range of
0.36 carats to 4.0 carats per multi-stone oval setting 10, 200,
300, 400, 500 or 600. Additionally, other types of gemstones such
as rubies emeralds and sapphires can be used for the multi-stone
oval settings 10, 200, 300, 400, 500 or 600 of the present
invention.
FIRST EMBODIMENT 10

the first embodiment of the present invention are represented in
detail by FIGS. 1 to 10 of the patent drawings. The multi-stone

diamonds 22, 24, 30 and 32 and two (2) substantially
rectangular-shaped gemstones or diamonds 26 and 28 in which to form
an oval jewelry arrangement 20. The multi-stone oval setting 10
includes an upper frame assembly 40 having first, second and third
crossbar members 50, 60 and 70 attached thereto, a prong assembly
80 having four prong members 82, 84, 86 and 88 attached thereto, a
lower frame assembly 90, and a setting connection bar member

members 50 and 60 are at a slightly higher elevated plane relative
to the third crossbar member 70. Thus, the first, second and third
crossbar members 50, 60 and 70 form a first outer row R1 having
seating areas 72S and 73S therein, a second outer row R3 having
seating areas 76S and 77S therein, and an inner row R2 having
seating areas 74S and 75S therein. The first, second, third and
fourth seating areas 72S, 73S, 76S and 77S have triangular-shaped
configurations for holding and seating the four (4)
triangular-shaped gemstones or diamonds 22, 24, 30 and 32 therein.
The inner row R2 seating areas 74S and 75S have rectangular-shaped
configurations for holding and seating the two (2)
rectangular-shaped gemstones or diamonds 26 and 28 therein. The
first crossbar member 50 includes a first wall surface 54 having a
first retaining insert edge member 55 thereon, and a second wall
surface 56 having a second retaining insert edge member 57 thereon.
The second crossbar member 60 includes a first wall surface 64
having a first retaining insert edge member 65 thereon, and a
second wall surface 66 having a second retaining insert edge member
67 thereon.

retain and hold in place gemstones or diamonds 22 and 24, the

therein. The second outer row R3 of seating areas 76S and 77S
includes gemstones or diamonds 30 and 32 each having a grooved slot
30d and 32d formed in its side wall 30a and 32a, respectively,
wherein the grooved slots 30d and 32d on gemstones or diamonds 30
and 32 engage the first retaining insert edge member 65 of the
second crossbar member 60 for the nesting and seating of gemstones
or diamonds 30 and 32 within the second outer row R3 of seating
areas 76S and 77S, respectively, therein. The inner row R2 seating
areas 74S and 75S includes gemstones or diamonds 26 and 28 each
having grooved slots 26j and 28j within its side walls 26a and 28a
and having grooved slots 26k and 28k within its side walls 26b and
28b, respectively, such that the grooved slots 26j, 28j, 26k and
28k are used for accepting the second retaining insert edge members
57 and 67 of the first and second crossbar member 50 and 60,
respectively, for the nesting and seating in the inner row R2 of
seating areas 74S and 75S of gemstones and diamonds 26 and 28,
respectively, within the multi-stone oval setting 10 of the first
embodiment of the present invention, as shown in FIGS. 3, 7A and 7B
of the drawings.

of the drawings, includes a first curved prong member 82, a second
curved prong member 84, a third curved prong member 86, and a
fourth curved prong member 88. The four (4) curved side rail

82 to 88, respectively, to form the multi-stone oval-shaped setting
10. Prong members 82, 84, 86 and 88 include upper and lower ends
82a, 82b, 84a, 84b, 86a, 86b, 88a, and 88b, respectively, as shown
in FIG. 3 of the drawings. Upper end 82a of curved prong member 82
is used for engaging the adjacent curved outer wall 22c of gemstone
or diamond 22 at a mid-point 22m along the curved outer wall 22c.
Upper end 84a of curved prong member 84 is used for engaging the
adjacent curved outer wall 24c of gemstone or diamond 24 at a
mid-point 24m along the curved outer wall 24c. Upper end 86a of
curved prong member 86 is used for engaging the adjacent curved
outer wall 30c of gemstone or diamond 30 at a mid-point 30m along
the curved outer wall 30c. Upper end 88a of curved prong member 88
is used for engaging the adjacent curved outer wall 32c of gemstone
or diamond 32 at a mid-point 32m along the curved outer wall 32c.
Thereby, all of the triangular-shaped gemstones or diamonds 22, 24,
30 and 32 are secured within both of the outer row seating areas
72R and 76R, respectively, of the multi-stone oval setting 10 of
the present invention.

pairs of prong members 242 and 244, 246 and 248, 250 and 252, and
254 and 256, respectively, thereon. Each pair of prong members 242
and 244, 246 and 248, 250 and 252, and 254 and 256 include upper
and lower ends 242a, 242b, 244a, 244b, 246a, 246b, 248a, 248b, 250a
and 250b, 252a, 252b, 254a, 254b, 256a and 256b, respectively,
thereon. The upper ends 242a and 256a of the paired prong members
252 to 256 are used for engaging and securing the triangular-shaped
gemstones or diamonds 22, 24, 30 and 32 within each of the first
and second outer row seating areas R1 and R3, respectively, of
seats 72S, 73S, 76S and 77S. The upper ends 242a and 244a of the
first paired prong members 242 and 244 are used for engaging the
adjacent curved outer wall 22c of gemstone or diamond 22 at a
mid-point 22m along the curved outer wall 22c. The upper ends 246a
and 248a of the second paired prong members 246 and 248 are used
for engaging the adjacent curved outer wall 24c of gemstone or
diamond 24 at a mid-point 24m along the curved outer wall 24c. The
upper ends 250a and 252a of the third paired prong members 250 and
252 are used for engaging the adjacent curved outer wall 30c of
gemstone or diamond 30 at a mid-point 30m along the curved outer
wall 30c. The upper ends 254a and 256a of the fourth paired prong
members 254 and 256 are used for engaging the adjacent curved outer

first end cap holding member 342 having a pair of vertical legs 344
and 346 attached thereto, and a second end cap holding member 348
having a pair of vertical legs 350 and 352 attached thereto. First
end cap holding member 342 is used for engaging two (2) adjacent
corners 22f and 24f of the two adjacent gemstones or diamonds 22
and 24, respectively. Second end cap holding member 348 is used for
engaging two (2) adjacent corners 30f and 32f of two adjacent
gemstones or diamonds 30 and 32, respectively. The first and second
end cap holding members 342 and 348 of the end cap holding assembly
340 secures each of the triangular-shaped gemstones or diamonds 22,
24, 30 and 32 within their respective gem seating areas 72S, 73S,
76S and 77S of the first and second outer rows R1 and R3,
respectively, for forming the six (6) stone oval jewelry
arrangement 20 of the multi-stone oval setting 300 of the present
invention. Further, each of the lower ends 344b and 346b,350b and
352b of the vertical legs 344, 346, 350 and 352 are connected to
the four (4) curved side rail members 92 to 98, respectively, of
the lower frame assembly 90, to form the bottom gallery 100. In all
other respects, this third embodiment is exactly the same as the
first embodiment 10 of a the multi-stone oval setting of the
present invention.
FOURTH EMBODIMENT 400
[0079] The multi-stone oval setting 400 and its component parts of
the fourth embodiment of the present invention are represented in
detail by FIGS. 15 through 24 of the patent drawings. The
multi-stone oval setting 400, as shown in FIGS. 15 and 16, is used
for holding in place two (2) semi-circular shaped gemstones or
diamonds 422 and 424 in which to form an oval jewelry arrangement
420. The multi-stone oval setting 400 includes an upper frame
assembly 430 having a center crossbar member 440 attached thereto,
a prong assembly 460 having four prong member 462, 464, 466 and 468
attached thereto, a lower frame assembly 470, and a setting
connecting bar member 490.

444B, as shown in FIGS. 17, 21 and 22 of the drawings.

of the curved prong members 466 and 468 are also used for engaging
the curved outer wall 424b of gemstone or diamond 424 at
equidistant points 424p and 424q along the curved outer wall 424b.
Thereby, both gemstones or diamonds 422 and 424 are secured within
respective seating areas 444A and 444B, respectively, of the
multi-stone oval setting 400 of the present invention.

outer wall 422b of gemstone or diamond 422 at equidistant points
422p and 422q along the curved outer wall 422b. Further, the upper

and 572, and 574 and 576, respectively, are also used for engaging
the curved outer wall 424b of gemstone or diamond 424 at
equidistant points 424p and 424q along the curved outer wall 424b.
Thereby, both gemstones or diamonds 422 and 424 are secured within
respective seating areas 444A and 444B, respectively, of the
multi-stone oval setting 500 of the present invention.

vertical legs 664 and 666 attached thereto, and a second end cap
holding member 668 having a pair of vertical legs 670 and 672
attached thereto. Each end cap holding member 662 and 668 is used
for engaging the curved outer walls 422b and 424b of gemstones or
diamonds 422 and 424 at the apex mid-points 422x and 424x along the
curved outer walls 422b and 424b, respectively. The first and
second end cap holding members 662 and 668 of the end cap holding
assembly 660 secures each of the gemstones or diamonds 422 and 424
within each of the gem seating areas 444A and 444B, respectively,
for forming the two (2) stone oval jewelry arrangement 420 of the
multi-stone oval setting 600 of the present invention. Further,
each of the lower ends 664b, 666b, 670b and 672b of the vertical
legs 664, 666, 670 and 672 are connected to the four (4) curved
side rail members 472 to 478, respectively, to form the bottom
gallery 480. In all other respects, this sixth embodiment 600 is
exactly the same as the fourth embodiment 400 of the multi-stone
oval setting of the present invention.
OPERATION OF THE PRESENT INVENTION
[0088] The operation of the multi-stone oval settings 10, 200 and
300 of the first, second and third embodiments of the present
invention, as shown in FIGS. 1, 3, 7A, 7B, 8, 12 and 14 of the
patent drawings, starts with the jeweler mounting one the frame
members 42 to a jewelry vise (not shown) for the convenient
assembly of each of the gemstones or diamonds 22, 24, 26, 28, 30
and 32 within the seating areas 72S, 73S, 74S, 75S, 76S and 77S of
rows R1, R2 and R3, respectively, of multi-stone oval settings 10,
200 and 300 by the jeweler. The jeweler's initial steps are to
slidably mount the inner row of the rectangular-shaped gemstones or
diamonds 26 and 28 within seating areas 74S and 75S, respectively,
wherein the grooved slots 26j and 28j in gemstones or diamonds 26
and 28 nestably engage the second retaining insert edge member 57
of the first crossbar member 50 for nesting and seating of side
walls 26a and 28a of gemstones or diamonds 26 and 28 on the first
crossbar member 50, respectively, as depicted in FIGS. 3, 7A and 7B
of the drawings. Concurrently, the grooved slots 26k and 28k in
gemstones or diamonds 26 and 28 also nestably engage the second
retaining insert edge member 67 of the second crossbar member 60
for nesting and seating of side walls 26b and 28b of gemstones or
diamonds 26 and 28 on the second crossbar member 60, as depicted in
FIGS. 7A and 7B of the drawings.

crossbar member 50, as depicted in FIGS. 3 and 7A of the drawings,
for nesting and seating of the first outer row R1 of
triangular-shaped gemstones 22 and 24 on the first crossbar member
50 within the seating areas 72S and 73S, respectively. Then the
jeweler slightly bends the upper ends 82a and 84a of prong members
82 and 84 inwardly to engage and contact the mid-points 22m and 24m
on the outer curved walls 22c and 24c of gemstones or diamonds 22
and 24, respectively, in which to hold gemstones or diamonds 22 and
24 in place and in a secure fashion.

initial steps are to slidably mount the first semi-circular shaped
gemstone or diamond 422 within the first seating area 444A, wherein
the grooved slot 422e in gemstone or diamond 422 nestably engages
the first retaining insert edge member 448 of the center crossbar
member 440 for nesting and seating of side wall 422a of gemstone or
diamond 422 on the center crossbar member 440, as depicted in FIGS.
15 and 17 of the drawings.

ADVANTAGES OF THE PRESENT INVENTION
[0099] Accordingly, an advantage of the present invention is that
it provides for a multi-stone setting member for holding therein
six or two partially rounded princess-cut gemstones in which the
combined aggregate of the six or two gemstones gives a larger
appearance than that of a single oval gemstone of a similar carat
weight (i.e., a 1.2 carat presentation of the combined six or two
gemstones appears as large as a 2.0 carat oval gemstone, as the
present invention would have a larger table).

provides for a multi-stone setting member having six or two
gemstones therein that is less expensive than a single oval
gemstone of a similar carat weight (i.e., the 1.2 carat
presentation of the combined six or two gemstones is less expensive
than an actual 1.2 carat single oval gemstone of the same carat
weight).

provides for a multi-stone setting member having six or two
