Kelly container drainer reclaimer

Abstract

Pursuant to the need for equipment in the area of reclamation, re-use and recycling of materials and the containers of materials this, The Kelly Container Drainer Reclaimer, has been invented and developed. This device consists of a positioning means to hold various size containers while the contents of those containers is drained into collecting containers thereby preparing the container and its contents for recycling, reclaimation or reuse. This device may be used to position containers in dishwashers or other processing machines when the containers are being further prepared for recycling and refuse.

Description

BACKGROUND

[0001] Pursuant to the need for a device to facilitate the conservation of materials and the containers of those materials the following device has been invented. This device, The Kelly Container Drainer Reclaimer, will in a simple, sanitary, safe and easy manner facilitate the recovery of material held in containers as well as emptying those in preparation for refilling or recycling them. Material held in contains does not leave the containers completely when poured from the containers. This is especially true of viscous materials such as ketchup, syrups, sauces, mustards, oils of all sorts, salsas, and dressings such as mayonnaise, tartar sauce other home and industrial materials to numerous to mention may also be reclaimed as well as the containers holding them. Some material usually remains in the containers requiring time and manpower to be expended removing and reclaiming it and cleaning the container preparatory to recycling or refilling it.

[0002] Containers are most easily cleaned if a maximum of their contents is removed prior to washing them.

[0003] Gravity over time is the force used to remove the material from containers. Gravity removal of contents of containers is accomplished by the Kelly Container Drainer Reclaimer by providing a means for holding the containers inverted so that their contents may drain out over time. This same device may be used for holding the containers in an inverted position while they are being washed in a conventional dishwasher. Great savings in the cost of labor is achieved by not having to use persons to drain containers manually because of the time involved in thorough emptying the containers of their contents. The prior art in the field consists of various unsafe "jury-rigged" arrangements of flatware or string and rubber bands or containers being proper up against one another in a precarious and possibly dangerous manner. The occurrence of injuries such as persons being cut by broken containers which containers were broken by reason of unstable stacking and the subsequent falling down of the containers.

[0004] The contamination of materials being reclaimed when collapse of these "jury-rigged" systems occurs is also well known.

OBJECTS AND ADVANTAGES

[0005] Facilitating the separation of contents from containers will improve the quality of operations where material is not replaced by reason of persons not bothering to recycle it.

[0006] Proper food and other product handling will be enhanced resulting in a higher quality of product as well as a safer product. The reclamation of contents and recycling of containers will be of a general economic and health benefit.

[0007] Safety of operations will be greatly enhanced. Procedures incorporating reclamation and recycling into daily operations by reason of the use of this device will upgrade those operations to the higher level of modern requirements of reclamation and recycling as well as the higher quality of product produced.

[0008] The recycling and reclamation of materials and containers is of importance in other fields as well. Gasoline stations may reclaim residual motor oil and other additives from the containers from which they are dispensed as well as the containers themselves.

DESCRIPTION

[0009] The Kelly Container Drainer Reclaimer (Figure #1) consists of suitable sheet stock (02) having holes of various sizes (04 & 06) both plain (04) and collared (06) to allow for many different size containers. Clamping legs (10) are formed so as to clamp the drainer to a receiving container (12). The collared openings collars (08) act to hold containers in a draining position as the collars are of a size adapted to the mouths of the jars. One jar may be drained into another of the same size The different size openings (04 & 06) serve to hold containers of various diameter necks in a draining position. The clamp (10) may serve as legs to allow the drainer to be placed on a plane surface over different containers so as to discretely drain containers diverse contents into different containers (FIG. 2) or to attach the drainer to a single container (FIG. 3) into which all containers are drained.

Operation

[0020] In operation the Kelly Container Drainer Reclaimer (02 FIGS. 1, 2, 3, 4, & 5 is clamped to a receiving container (10 FIGS. 2 & 5). Containers to be drained are placed in the collared and plain openings and allowed to drain. They are then removed and washed and the drained material used as is appropriate.

Claims

1. The Kelly Container Drainer Reclaimer introduces reclamation into the process of material handling of foods and other materials by providing a simple, safe, facile and inexpensive means of reclamation of containers and the residual material in them.

2. The device is a great aid to sanitation and the proper handling of materials by facilitating their reclamation.

3. The Kelly Container Drainer Reclaimer may be used to drain the contents of one jar into another so as to consolidate material. (FIG. 4)
