Description
[0001] This application is a Continuation-in-part of U.S. Ser. No.
09/592,804 filed Jun. 13, 2000.
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
[0002] The present invention relates to clothes hangers
particularly suitable to support items of clothes having a shaped
shoulder, called "conformata".
BACKGROUND OF THE PRIOR ART
[0003] Clothes hangers of normal production used to support
clothing items which are hung are constituted by a rigid frame
substantially shaped as an inverted "V" provided with a central
hook and the frame on the two opposite extremities with an
essentially rounded shape, substantially spherical. This type of
hangers is very satisfactory to support items of clothing which
have "giro manica", that is the area in which the upper part of the
sleeve is connected by means of a seam to the shoulder of the
clothes, of the type called "soft", such as for example knitwear,
shirts, "T-shirts", aprons and similar articles.
[0004] On the contrary, common hangers are not very satisfactory
when they are used for clothes which have a shaped shoulder, called
"conformata", that is when the area in which the upper part of the
sleeve is defined by a rigid arcuated profile, as in the case of
jackets, coats in which the curb of the seam is well evident and is
shaped. This curb defines the attack of the upper part of the
sleeve to the shoulder.
[0005] From the aesthetic point of view, in coats and jackets which
have shaped shoulders the sleeve falls vertically corresponding to
the area in which the upper part of the sleeve is sewn to the
shoulder and the tubular which constitutes the sleeve is flattened
in the upper part in order to follow the profile of the seam.
[0006] A first drawback which occurs when the hanger with rounded
extremities is used with clothes having a shaped shoulder is due to
the fact that the two extremities cannot support the entire hung
item of clothing because, being rounded with an essentially
spherical shape, cannot guarantee a uniform and regular support to
the curb of the upper part of the sleeve, which, oppositely has a
substantially curved shape and is disposed on a plane.
[0007] A second drawback which is encountered when a hanger with
rounded extremities is used to hang clothes having shaped shoulders
is due to the fact that the width of the frame, that is the
distance measured between the two rounded extremities, does not
correspond perfectly to the width of the shoulders of the hung
clothes, that is the distance measured between the two rigid curbs
of the two shoulder loops which limit the upper part of the sleeve
of the item of clothing. Consequently, if the width of the hanger
is less, than the distance between the two shoulders of the item of
clothing a curving of the two portions of the shaped shoulders
which protrudes on the two sides of the hanger occurs, which with
time, causes the deformation of the shaped shoulders which will
cause a negative aesthetic effect typical of the so called "falling
shoulders".
[0008] Consequently, if the width of the hanger is greater than the
distance between the two shoulders of the hung clothes item, it
happens that the opposite extremities of the frame of the hanger
become protruding with respect to the width of the two shaped
shoulders and they push towards the exterior the upper part of the
two sleeves which with time are deformed permanently forming some
sinking which is antiaesthetic corresponding to the portion of the
fabric which constitutes the upper part of the sleeve.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0009] An object of the invention is to provide a hanger in which
the item of clothing provided with shaped shoulders is supported in
an optimum manner without damaging or deforming both the shoulder
and the upper part of the sleeve.
[0010] Another object is to provide a hanger in which the item of
clothing being hung which has shaped shoulders is perfectly
supported on the hanger.
[0011] Still another object is the achievement of a hanger in which
the sleeve of the item of clothing hangs vertically in a natural
manner from the area in which the sleeve is sewn.
[0012] It is preferable, but not essential to make the hanger of
plastic material.
[0013] These objects are achieved by providing a hanger in which
each of the two extremities of the frame, instead of having a
rounded shape, end with a planar vertical surface. In addition,
each of the two planar surfaces are perpendicular to the
longitudinal direction of the corresponding terminal portion of the
frame of the hanger.
[0014] Further, the invention provides that the two planar vertical
surfaces which limit the two extremities of the frame of the hanger
are not reciprocally parallel but are reciprocally converging
towards a single point or a single line which is equidistant from
the same and it is disposed on a vertical plane which is also the
vertical plane of the middle center line of the hanger, if one
looks at the hanger from above, that is as a plan view.
[0015] More specifically the invention provides that the converging
line of the two vertical planar surfaces is positioned from the
anterior part of the frame of the hanger for the purpose of
conforming perfectly with the position of the two curbs of the area
in which the sleeve is sewn, which also become reciprocally
converging anteriors.
[0016] The characteristics of the invention will be more evident in
view of the description of a possible embodiment provided as a
non-limiting example for illustration, by reference to the
drawings, of which:
[0017] FIG. 1 shows a perspective view of the hanger of the
invention;
[0018] FIG. 2 shows in detail the extremity of the hanger of FIG.
1;
[0019] FIGS. 3 and 4 show respectively a frontal elevational view
and a side view of the hanger of FIG. 1;
[0020] FIG. 5 is a plan view of the hanger of FIG. 3;
[0021] FIGS. 6, 7 and 8 show three orthogonal views of a jacket
with shaped shoulder hung with a hanger according to the
invention.
[0022] As shown in FIG. 1, the hanger has a frame (1) which ends at
the two extremities with two planar surfaces (2). As shown
particularly in FIGS. 3 and 5, the extensions (2') and (2") of the
two planar surfaces (2) at the extremities are disposed on two
vertical planes which converge to the plane (K) of frame (1). The
converging occurs when the hanger is subjected to the action of a
press.
[0023] In addition, as shown in FIG. 5, each of the two surfaces
(2) which are planar and counterposed, are perpendicular to the
longitudinal direction (3) of the corresponding terminal portion of
the frame of the hanger.
[0024] According to the invention as shown in FIGS. 3 and 5, the
two planar vertical surfaces (2) are reciprocally converging
towards the single line (P) which is at the same distance from both
of them and which is disposed on the vertical plane (K) which is
also the central middle plane of the hanger. The line (P) of
intersection of the three vertical planes (2'), (2") and (K) is
positioned from the anterior part of the frame (1) of the
hanger.
[0025] Finally the invention provides that in proximity of the two
planar surfaces (2) are made one or more grooves (4) which have the
function of increasing the friction between the shoulder of the
clothing item being hung and the hanger, thus avoiding the
possibility of sliding during transportation.
[0026] Finally as shown in FIG. 2, particularly in the case of very
delicate garments, in the interior of the grooves (3) are inserted
strings (5) which protruding a little from the grooves keep the
shoulder raised from the body of the clothes hanger. These strings
are made of a material different from the material which
constitutes the supporting body (1) and preferably with a material
which prevents sliding.
[0027] The advantages achieved by utilizing the hanger according to
the invention are shown in FIGS. 6-8 in which jacket (6) with a
shaped shoulder and with area (7) in which the sleeve is sewn to
the jacket is well defined with a rigid arcuated profile which
shows the seam of attack of the upper part of the sleeve (8) to the
shoulder (9).
[0028] FIG. 6 shows that sleeve (6) falls vertically exactly
corresponding to the area (7) where the sleeve is sewn to the
jacket and the tubular which constitutes the sleeve is flattened in
the upper part (9) in order to follow the profile of the seam in
the area in which the sleeve is sewn.
[0029] The figures unquestionably show that the adoption of the two
planar surfaces (2) at the extremities of the frame (1) disposed
vertically and reciprocally converging, perfectly conform with the
portion of the two erbs in the area in which the sleeve is sewn,
said erbs being reciprocally converging anteriorly and guaranteeing
the total support of the item of clothing being hung.
[0030] Obviously several embodiments different from the embodiment
shown in the figures are possible without departing from the
feature defined in claim 1 which recites that the two extremities
of the body of the clothes hanger are not rounded.
