DISCLAIMER REQUIRED
Specifically, applicant states in the record that the word “CORSA” translates to “race.” The wording “race” is defined as “to compete in a contest of speed.” See attached dictionary definition from the American Heritage Dictionary. The attached evidence from Bicycling.com, Canyon, and Giant Bicycles show that the word “race” is commonly used to describe bikes designed for use in contests of speed- “race bikes.” Thus, the word “race” and its foreign equivalent “CORSA” are merely descriptive of a characteristic, feature, purpose, and use of applicant’s goods and a disclaimer is needed.
Applicant may respond to this issue by submitting a disclaimer in the following format:
No claim is made to the exclusive right to use “CORSA” apart from the mark as shown.
For an overview of disclaimers and instructions on how to provide one using the Trademark Electronic Application System (TEAS), see the Disclaimer webpage.
