Subject: NTIS Trademark Applications 88635723 and 88635715

Dear Ms. Schwartz

I am the trademark examining attorney to whom these applications have been assigned. There  are minor issues with the description of services and mark descriptions that we can resolve by examiner's amendment, based on your reply to this email or a phone call.

For both applications, the description of services is listed as:  providing access to interactive computer data bases in the fields of scientific, technical, engineering, and business information, in Class 42.  While that description was acceptable in earlier registrations, the wording “providing access to databases” is no longer acceptable in Class 42.  Access services refer to providing telecommunications access, in Class 38, i.e., providing access to the internet.  Based on the specimens, I propose the following amended description in both applications, if accurate:

Class 42:               providing an website featuring technology that enables users to access interactive databases featuring information in the fields of science, technology, engineering and business

For 88635715 (NTIS against the black background), please authorize me to amend the mark description as provided below in bold, if accurate:

The mark consists of the acronym stylized wording "NTIS" in bold font, with the "N", "T", and "S" in all capital letters and the "i" in lowercase letters, with the letters and, the "T", "I", and "S" connected. The black background indicates contrast and is not a feature of the mark.

For 88635723 (NTIS.gov),  please authorize me to amend the mark description as provided below in bold, if accurate:

The mark consists of the stylized wording words "NTIS.gov" in bold font, with the "N", "T", and "S" in all capital letters and the "i" and ".gov" in lowercase letters, with the letters and, the "T", "I", and "S" connected.  and, the "T", "I", and "S" connect.

I would be happy to enter these amendments for you, and move the application forward. Please let me know how you want to proceed or if you have questions. There is no fee due for my making these changes for you.

Thank you.
