Hi,

 

We note you have suggested amending the applications to remove the word “wine” and leave the term “wines”.

 

However, this deletion would have an impact on how third parties conducting searches might be able to find the mark in a search when looking for related goods.

 

A search under goods/services for WINE would not always catch “Wines” in the goods services field, so this could be missed entirely by someone who is not adept at searching.  Also, “Wine" is more widely used as an ID than “Wines”, but both are often used interchangeably.

 

For this very reason, in an excess of caution, and because these ID's are both acceptable, we always make sure to include both WINE and WINES.

 

So we would prefer the ID not be amended for this reason.
