EXPLANATION OF FILING

Pursuant to TMEP § 1201.02(c)(5), Applicant respectfully requests that the owner name be corrected to Axios Media Inc.  On November 30, 2016, Applicant changed its name from VAS Media Inc. to Axios Media Inc..  Due to a typographical error, the application was filed under the prior company name.  “If the owner of a mark legally changed its name before filing an application, but mistakenly lists its former name on the application, the error may be corrected, because the correct party filed, but merely identified itself incorrectly.”  TMEP § 1201.02(c)(5) (citing  In re Techsonic Indus., Inc., 216 USPQ 619 (TTAB 1982). Because this is a corporate name change, Applicant is not required to submit a declaration in support of this request.  Please find the Certificate of Change of Name attached to Applicant’s Request for an Extension of Time, which is being filed concurrently today.  This form does not allow Applicant to attach miscellaneous documents.
