A third instrument portion consisting of a synthesized wind sound starts as a fortissimo legato attack on the downbeat of beat one and is played as three successive quarter notes, the first two with tremolo, the first of which decrescendos with decay over the duration of the first beat and then re-crescendos to the second quarter note, which decrescendos with decay over the duration of the second beat and then re-crescendos to the third quarter note which is sounded double fortissimo with accented articulation and rapid decay.
