The referenced application has been reviewed by the assigned trademark examining attorney.  Applicant must respond timely and completely to the issue(s) below.  15 U.S.C. §1062(b); 37 C.F.R. §§2.62, 2.65(a); TMEP §§711, 718.03.

Identification of Goods

The word “providing” in the identification of goods must be deleted, as it signifies a service rather than goods.  TMEP Section 1402.01.  The applicant may adopt the following identification, if accurate:

Hand tools, namely, a hand tool for use in attaching and removing hose clamps

Identifications of goods can be amended only to clarify or limit the goods; adding to or broadening the scope of the goods is not permitted.  37 C.F.R. §2.71(a); see TMEP §§1402.06 et seq., 1402.07.  Therefore, applicant may not amend the identification to include goods that are not within the scope of the goods set forth in the present identification.

Description of Mark

Applicant must submit a concise description of the mark.  37 C.F.R. §2.37; see TMEP §§808 et seq.  The following is suggested:

The mark consists of the stylized term GORVO.

Translation and Significance of Mark

Applicant must submit an English translation of all foreign wording in the mark.  TMEP §809; see 37 C.F.R. §§2.32(a), 2.61(b).  Applicant must explain whether “GORVO” has any meaning or significance in the hand tools industry or as applied to the goods recited in the application. Applicant must also state whether GORVO has any geographic significance. See 37 C.F.R. §2.61(b); TMEP §814.
