EXPLANATION OF FILING

Registrant respectfully requests amendment of the registration by deleting the space between the terms “common” and “ground,” as reflected in the typed form submitted herewith.  Registrant submits that the proposed amendment contains the essence of and creates the same impressions as the originally registered mark.  While Section 7(e) prohibits an amendment that materially alters the character of the mark, marks may be varied as to their style of lettering, size, and other elements of form without resulting in a material alteration of the mark.  See Ex parte Squire Dingee Co., 81 USPQ 258, recon. denied, 81 USPQ 543 (Comm’r Pats. 1949).  Registrant respectfully submits that the mere deletion of a space between the terms “common” and “ground” constitutes an element of form that does not result in a material alteration of the mark and, therefore, requests the proposed amendment to be entered.
