This letter responds to the applicant’s communication filed on January 9, 2003.
As the following informalities remain outstanding, the refusal to register is continued.
The wording “providing online chat rooms for transmission of messages among computer users concerning a wide variety of topics, including entertainment and leisure, education, current events, people and relationships, health, computing, religion and beliefs, business and financial matters and science and history” in the recitation of services in International Class 38 is unacceptable as indefinite. The applicant may amend this wording to “providing online chat rooms for transmission of messages among computer users concerning a wide variety of topics, namely, entertainment and leisure, education, current events, people and relationships, health, computing, religion and beliefs, business and financial matters and science and history,” if accurate. TMEP §1402.11.
The wording “providing online electronic and wireless bulletin boards for transmission of messages among computer users concerning a wide variety of topics, including entertainment and leisure, education, current events, people and relationships, health, computing, religion and beliefs, business and financial matters, and science and history” in the recitation of services in International Class 38 is unacceptable as indefinite. The applicant may amend this wording to “providing online electronic and wireless bulletin boards for transmission of messages among computer users concerning a wide variety of topics, namely, entertainment and leisure, education, current events, people and relationships, health, computing, religion and beliefs, business and financial matters, and science and history,” if accurate. TMEP §1402.11.
The wording “data and voice telecommunications” in the recitation of services in International Class 38 is unacceptable as indefinite. The applicant may amend this wording to “data and voice telecommunications, namely, [indicate specific mode of telecommunications],” if accurate. TMEP §1402.11.
The wording “computer services, namely, assisting others in creating web communities and providing communication and computer services to those communities” in the recitation of services in International Class 42 is unacceptable as indefinite. The applicant may amend this wording to “computer services, namely, assisting others in creating web communities and providing computer services to those communities,” if accurate. TMEP §1402.11.
The wording “updating of computer software” in the recitation of services in International Class 42 is unacceptable as indefinite. The applicant may amend this wording to “updating of computer software for others,” if accurate. TMEP §1402.11.
